What People are saying

NICE family hotel

This small hotel is run by a lovely family. The breakfast is amazing as well as the services - you need to leave the key so that they can clean the room. Wifi works perfectly, just the shower could need some improvements.

Cosy and feel at home

Lovely place with a proper home feeling. Room was neat and cleaned every day. Very good value for money.
Tibetain food is very good too.
Location is good as everything is within walking distance. We will come back !

The great breakfast is their point of difference

This place is perched on the side of the hill on a busy street - everything in McLeod Ganj is busy. It is easy walking distance to the main town - of course walking home is easier as its down hill. The breakfast here was great both days - tasty local dishes and other things that westerns would like. The rooms are a good size with a little deck so we could sit outside and look at the view. Good hot water and a good nights sleep. On the last day we didn't leave till late so after we had checked out they gave us another room with bathroom facilities to use until we left at 5pm.

Good choice for a comfortable stay

I picked this property after reading reviews on TA. Wanted a cheap but clean place to stay over a weekend trip, located centrally but not right bang in the middle of the market. The hotel was all of this. The sisters who run the place were friendly and polite, the room was immaculately kept, bathroom was spacious and clean. The welcome drink of honey lemon ginger tea was indeed welcome. Breakfast is quite nice too. I picked a higher floor room with balcony. Overall comfortable stay and would stay here again.

Extremely Disappointing

We had booked this hotel after reading some excellent reviews but our experience was very disappointing.

We arrived at the hotel late after riding all the way from Chandigarh. Reached at around 7 p.m. and it was quite difficult to find the hotel. Luckily google maps assisted. The hotel is located on a steep incline and a narrow road so parking the bikes and car and pulling out luggage was a challenge.

We were shown to our rooms which look much better in the photos than they do actually. Rooms are pretty run down and old. The light fixtures were cracked in some places and had not been repaired / replaced. The blanket had stains and I pointed it out to the staff to request a change but I was told that the stuff has been washed and they can't get the stains out. No replacement was done.

The chairs in the room were so tiny we could barely fit it. The view is blocked by construction happening outside. Rooms are not very soundproof. Bathroom is average. The bed luckily was very comfortable and we slept really well.

Dinner was another challenge. Only tibetan food was available and that too turned out to be really bland and none of us liked it. We asked for water and it was not served on the table. We were told that we need to get our own bottles and fill them from the filter outside. So no water with dinner. When asked about breakfast, we were told there would be bread toast, chhhole puri and scrambled eggs with tea / coffee. The non-veg folks asked for omelettes instead of scrambled eggs and were told it could not be done.

It was our anniversary and we had asked for a cake to be baked. To our horror, thee cake was the cooker cake of pilsbury (could tell from the smell and taste as have made it often) and it had no sugar. Instead had a slightly salty taste. When we pointed this out to the staff, instead of an apology, we got a shrug and she asked if she can put icing on it to compensate. It was absolutely ridiculous. We tried getting in touch with the owner but her phone was unavailable.

At this point, the group decided that we did not want to stay in this place for the two nights we had originally planned for and we decided to leave for Dalhousie the very next day,

The morning was a completely different staff and experience. The service was prompt and smiling, The coffee was great and the toast was good. The chhole etc we avoided. It felt like we were in a different hotel altogether. We had, however, already confirmed our bookings at Dalhousie. When we conveyed our issues to Sonamji, she was extremely courteous and promptly offered to cancel our second day stay at no extra cost. Had we got this kind of response the previous day, the review would have been quite different.

If I go to Dharamshala / McLeodganj again though, I would probably look for a different place to stay.
