A Peace of Paradise
Coco291968on 09/05/2017 16:42The moment you meet Lorraine you feel right at home. She is welcoming and very knowledgeable of the area. You are away from the hustle and bustle of a 5-star resort and downtown area which is what we were looking for. My husband, 19 yr old daughter and her girlfriend took this trip. We warned her girlfriend that we do not take vacations but adventures and love staying with folks who live in the country we visit. At the end of the trip, her girlfriend had so much fun, she mentioned it was the best trip ever. That was because of Lorraine, her guide Melvin and Shirley who cooked us a genuine creole dinner. The kitchen is well equipped, there are mosquito nets on the beds, there is an outside shower (my daughter loved this) and she keeps her home clean and tidy. We stayed for a full week and really felt we got way.
Great stay
ynison 15/01/2017 19:32We chose to stay with Lorraine since we were looking for something special, away from the huge resorts and mass tourism. The place is set amid the nature, alongside a stream. You are immersed in greenery and can benefit from all the sounds of nature (frogs, geckos, crickets and birds). The comfort is simple with shared bathroom but the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is good, served on the verandah. Lorraine is very kind and welcoming, very helpful and can provide tons of information so that your vacations are unique. Such a place is not so common on the Island. Lorraine's B&B is set on the Eastern part of the Island, in a place not very touristic. You are very near from Mamiku gardens, 10 minutes drive from the pleasant La Tille falls and 20 minutes from the great Sandy Beach and the airport. Guests have the full use of the kitchen, and if you are lazy and do not want to cook, you can purchase dinner from Lorraine's neighbor (on request) and there is a restaurant nearby that we did not try.
I definitely recommend this place for a trip out of the beaten tracks.
Great stay
NEMI76Londonon 18/11/2016 03:29we stayed with Lorraine for three nights and it was a great start to an amazing holiday. Lorraine is a great host and we enjoyed the chance to stay somewhere away from the big resorts and the cruise-liner-trail. Lorraine helped us arrange transport and a fascinating walk into the rain forest with a very knowledgeable guide.
Thanks Lorraine!
Should have stayed longer
Tikibirdon 17/09/2016 12:36It's hard to plan a budget trip with limited time and focus on birding. We only had one night here and sadly our flight arrived after dark so we didn't get to enjoy the property much. Lorraine organized transport from the airport, met us on arrival and checked us in and confirmed our guided birding excursion for the next morning. The room was really nice with ensuite, 2 beds and a nice verandah, Peace of Paradise is well-named!
Lovely,
Bugsy24897on 25/01/2016 17:33If you prefer to avoid busy resorts and crowded beaches, you will love this small bed and breakfast in rural St. Lucia. I especially loved the constant sound of the river running in back of the property and my daily dips in its refreshing water. I also enjoyed walking up the road through the banana plantation looking for birds. Melvin took us on a 1.5 hour walk to a beautiful double waterfall where we had a lovely swim. Lorraine is really helpful and gracious and I enjoyed her three polite dogs. It was a great homey atmosphere. Even though there is only one bathroom for the three rooms, it was always clean and available when I needed it. The rooms are small but attractive and clean and the beds and bedding are really comfortable (I slept in all three rooms!) I loved sleeping under a mosquito net listening to the rain come down in the early morning. I made most of my own meals in Lorraine's large and decently equipped kitchen after shopping for groceries in Vieux Fort, supplemented by a few delicious dinners made by Celia, who lives close by, and I spent significant time in the hammock drinking rum and coke and reading. It was heavenly! It's easy to take the local bus to the beach at Vieux Fort (about a half-hour ride) or beaches further away if you want to. I took two buses and a water taxi to Anse Chastenet one day and had a fantastic snorkelling experience. Even though Peace of Paradise is off the beaten path, you can get anywhere by bus.
My memories of my stay at Peace of Paradise are going to keep me going for the rest of the winter and I plan to return next year. I highly recommend Peace of Paradise.
