What People are saying

Very good option in Burgos

Luis Mon 21/08/2017 21:39

The hotel is very well located for someone arriving by car: it is within walking distance to the cathedral (5 min), and there are free parking places around the hotel. The hotel parking is expensive for the area (18 euros/night), but (at least in August) we could easily find free parking outside.
The rooms are OK and the public areas are welcoming.
There is also a swimming pool.
WiFi works well.
From the hotel one can easily reach all important sites of Burgos. Therefore a good basis.

Ambivalent About Abba Burgos

Lindsay Ron 16/08/2017 18:09

I was attracted to Abba Burgos because it was reasonably close to the Cathedral (about 500 metres) and also on the Camino to Santiago de Compostela...thus providing a shorter departure day as a pilgrim. In fact, it is actually up an incline and not very convenient for easy access to the traveller spending time in the city.

In addition, it is a much easier and far more pleasant Camino route to walk from the Cathedral along the river. The route past the hotel is down steps and through an unattractive part of town to where the river route joins.

My welcome on arrival was neither friendly nor unfriendly and this seemed to be the same with three other different staff I encountered on my two night stay. I would actually rate the welcome as disappointing.

I had booked a standard room and assumed a four star rated hotel would still allow a very pleasant stay. It did not quite work out this way but was not a disaster...hence my title of ambivalent. The hotel is quite large and has a nice ambience.

The entrance to the long narrow and in fairness relatively spacious room was through a foyer with a small wardrobe containing a safe. There was also a door to the bathroom and another door which enabled the entrance and bedroom to be segregated.

This room on the second floor (actually the first floor above the main foyer) overlooked the driveway. There is an average sized window at the end of the room. There is a desk under the window and two single beds pushed together as usual. There is a trouser press but what would have been more useful would be bedside lamps instead of just wall lights, a clock and a box of tissues.

There was often noise from the outside during the day but not a problem. The window could be opened which was good.

The bathroom is very spacious and very elegant. It needs a night light because it is very dark at night and face washers were not provided. Otherwise with a shower over bath, toilet, bidet and large vanity it is good.

The bed was quite firm but the main criticism of this room is the noisy airconditioning. When the reception were asked about it the answer was all rooms are the same. I used ear plugs or turned it off. Disappointing for a hotel of this standard.

Breakfast was quite good and if pre-booked cost €10.....I enjoyed breakfast and found it good value.

If you want to have a swim you can hire a towel for €1.

Wifi is good except you need to log on each twenty four hours but what is outrageous is having to provide your full name, age, gender and email address before being connected. What an invasion of privacy!!!!!

On balance and particularly because of the wifi privacy issue and the noisy airconditioning, I would definitely not return as there are plenty of lovely little hotels in Burgos. Do I hear management saying good riddance?

Nice Hotel in Good Location

Mark Gon 11/08/2017 18:09

We stated in the hotel for three nights and had a good and comfortable stay. The hotel is in a good location walking distance to the main attractions restaurants bars etc and a great place to stay when visiting and touring the region. Make sure you request a non smoking room if you are a non smoker.

Best hotel in Burgos

We stayed one night on the way to Portugal and we where very impressed with the quality of the hotel and the professionalism of the reception staff. The only snag was that the restaurant closes on Sunday night.

Perfect

The last of four hotels we stayed in on this trip and without doubt the best. The rooms with a private garden are just great for having a quiet drink or for catching a spot of late afternoon sun. Having a pool to refresh in after walking round Burgos was very refreshing. Location is great and although we used the hotel car park on the first night I had no trouble getting parking on street. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Highly recommend.
