What People are saying

Location!

SteveB5805on 26/08/2016 22:52

If you're looking for location, this is the place. Half a block from the beach, next to popular bar and restaurant. Everything walking distance. Unless you're leaving Old town you'll never need to even get in a cab. Yes, this is not the Ritz. There's nothing in Old Town, anywhere near this price point, that is even equal to a Marriott. The beds are a bit hard, but let them know in advance and they put padding on to soften things up. Rooms are clean. The suites are lots of room and good views. There are other gay accomodatons, and each has a unique personality. Oro is not the small guest house type of property. It is more like a hotel, where people pretty much stay to themselves. However, with one elevator you do get the chance to meet the other guests. The pool is not the center of attention like a guest house. It's so close to the beach, guests headout for the main event. It's so close!! If you're a seasoned PV visitor, you know that luxury is not the standard in Old Town. Oro is so close to the top night spots, best restaurants, and the soul of Old Town, it's very much worth a stay. I always travel solo to PV and find Oro and it's predecessor a reliable, convenient place to stay that sure limits the need to walk or ride alone. No need to cut through dark side streets in the evenings. The hotel and all destinations are on well lite, well traveled streets.

Excellent location near Playa Los Muertos

Near many venues, restaurants, etc. In recent years there were few foreign tourists near this area; however, the tourists have found this great part of town. Many new restaurants have opened up and the area has a brand new pier.
Very safe area during the day and night.

Great little hotel

The location is awesome. A block to the beach and a block to Olas Altas where numerous shops and incredible restaurants await. Don't expect the Ritz! This is an older Mexican hotel but it's incredibly clean and the staff, especially German (front desk) go out of their way to make your visit worthwhile. The price is a bargain!

Good location. Friendly staff.

We booked two separate rooms for our 6 day stay in April. It was our first time in PV, and we wanted something in the Romantica Zone. The rooms were nothing special - but fine for what we needed. We were given choices on what rooms we wanted - as the place was pretty empty for our stay. We had one room with an ocean view, and chose one room with ocean/mountain view. Very nice! Couldn't ask for a better location! Steps away from the beach and close to the malecon. And right next door to Coco's for breakfast! Would have given this five stars if our A/C was better.

My Stay.

I arrived on January 6 2016 and departed on March 9 for 63 days. I have visited this hotel many times, And this is by far the very best hotel in Puerto Vallarta. The entire staff treats you as if you were the only guest, All are so very special. I would like to express my thanks to some of the very special folks at the hotel, German with his bright smile and always so eager to offer assistance, Maria Louisa who always offers her expertise to assure the rooms are immaculate, Carla and Amilia cleaned my Suite daily and always the best. I would extend my invitation to anyone to stay at Torro de Oro you will have the very best visit. Five minutes to the beach, Even if you walk slow.
