Budget Hotel

We stayed here for two overnight stays as part of a touring holiday with Edwards Coaches. On arrival, for our first overnight stay, we were told that the lift could only be used to ascend - we had to walk back down the stairs. However, we could use it to send down our luggage (although 6 full suitcases would have easily weighed as much as 2 people with 2 suitcases). The dining room is not very big but its bright and comfortable. The evening meals are fairly basic but adequate (I must admit, the meal on our second overnight stay was much better than the first). The bedroom was quite small, stuffy and without air conditioning, uncomfortably warm. We had a desktop fan but that meant leaving the window open to gain any respite and putting up with the noisy traffic that seemed to go on all night. The bathroom was, however, fairly well appointed with toiletries and a roomy shower cubicle. Breakfast was perfectly fine with plenty of cold cuts and hot choices, cereal, juice and fruit. This hotel is perfectly adequate for short stays but its a long way from the centre and has limited facilities. Saying that, the bar/dining room staff are very pleasant, friendly and hard-working. I learned from them that a shandy in Germany can be bought in bottled form called a Radler - valuable information for a shandy drinking traveller like myself!

Nice budget stay outside city centre

Positives:
- Good budget option right outside the city centre
- Easily accessible by car + free car parking
- Rooms are clean
- Location is fine. 5 minutes by bus to the centre but the bus doesn't go often (or 8 EUR by taxi)
- Staff is nice
- If you arrive late, there's pizza place just next to the hotel (otherwise there's nothing much nearby)

Negatives:
- Rooms are quite small even for budget option (but that's the reason why you get good price)
- In the evening bus goes once in 30min and no buses from city centre after 23:00
- Breakfast is 9 EUR per person, so for a family of 4 a bit pricy.
- WiFi has one-time login/password system and was hard to get in via Android (why some hotels still have it???)

Nice Budget-Hotel

First of all: You get a very delicious coffee here! And now the rest ;-) The employees are highly trained and very friendly! The breakfest buffet is rich. The rooms are small - which is hardly surprising for a hotel of this category - but very clean! I felt very comfortable and highly recommend this hotel.

Good hotel / super friendly staff

We stayed 1 night in a family room
Room is of good size, bathroom as well, very clean. Bed too soft for us.
Whirlpool was broken so we could not try it (sauna was working but it was already 32+ degrees outside so we did not feel like it ;-) )
Super tip from local lady at reception to walk down to town via university along the Inn (35 minutes to the cathedral) + bus back uphill
Smooth check out as well

Basic Hotel long way out of town

We stayed here on the first night of our cycle tour with Macs the hotel is basic, clean and the staff were helpful. Wi Fi though available only seemed to work in reception. The restaurant was closed the night we were there, the hotel suggested a pizza place up the road which we walked into and straight back out again. The hotel is along way from the train station / town and unless you have your own transport you will need to to taxi or bus. It is relatively close to where our cycles had to be collected (about 4K) but other than that i can see no advantage to staying here - if Macs book you here ask to change to a hotel closer to town.
