Nice place to stay

I stayed here for 3 weeks during my stay in cambridge. The owner was very friendly. I liked the breakfast served there. The menu has continental, english, vegetarian breakfast. During my stay I tried all three types of breakfast and all of them were equally good. The guest house has free wifi which was the best part. It's not too far from the city and you can always get bus to the city.
Spar is near the guest house, one can collect grocerry or food from there.

SERVICE: The owner was friendly. The staff was ok but there's nothing to be impressed by them. For breakfast, you got 3 choices from the menu (English, Continental, Vegetarian). It's quite simple, but I'm quite satisfied.

One thing that bugs me was that I got only one bar of soap for the whole stay (it wasn't enough), and the packaged milk provided in my room was expired. But these issues were immediately fixed when I notified the cleaning lady.

The WIFI is probably the best part here. I needed a good wifi for, e.g., Skype, and had no problem at all. (I usually encountered problem with WIFI elsewhere).

ROOM: I stayed at another house across the road. The bed was good. Other furniture were decorated in a simple way. There was a desk which is good as I needed it for work. But the chair wasn't so comfortable.

SLEEP QUALITY: As in a few other guesthouses in the UK I have been to, the wall wasn't very thick. So I could hear noise (snore) from a room next to me. But it didn't bother me that much.

LOCATION: It's not too far from the city. You can either walk or take a bus. Nearby there is a nice coffeeshop and a grocery store, but if you want other things you have to walk for about 10 minutes. I found it hard sometimes to find a place for dinner when I don't want to walk.

Standard B&B nothing more, nothing less

Good location in a 20min walk to the city center. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The room was tired and tatty - spruced up with nice new furniture so it looks better in photos. Tiny little bathroom, but does the job.

I stayed here for one night only and was well welcomed by the staff. They were polite and helpful. The room was a good size although I found my bathroom a bit small. The breakfast was good and kept me full for the whole day! They have three choices: English, continental and vegetarian.

4 stars? Ich don't think so

My wife and I stayed here recently. The room was clean and comfortable enough but the shower room and toilet are the size of a broom cupboard, and the toilet was not very clean. On the outside of the building it shows a rating of 4 stars (from visitengland.com). I'm not sure if their star rating system is the same as others but I've stayed in 4 star hotels before, and this place was NOT that sort of standard - 3 stars at best. The guesthouse is quite well located, about a 30 minute walk from the centre of Cambridge, but there's not much else to say for it.
