Budget Hotel
liberty88on 18/08/2017 19:03Its in the heart of Lugano, very close to everything and that's the big advantage of this place. It's also one of the cheapest options you have if you want to be in the center and not for a long stay but only for one or two nights. From my point of view the room was average, old fashioned and not too clean. Breakfast was fine , not something really special. There is no free parking space, its loudly because of the fornicular station but this can be also a benefit. Lobby area is from the 80's but no problem
If you wish to Sleep don't stay in a 2nd floor room
waktravelon 29/07/2017 18:49The funicular (loud rail) operates, I believe, 5:30AM until 11:30PM. I was unable to sleep at all during these hours because of the noise and I believe even vibration. I requested another room and was told this is what I get when reserving a one person room.
On arrival if I had not been a very tired 77yr Grandmom I would have forfeited my money and gone to another hotel. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone whose requirement of a hotel is to sleep. The room and breakfast were very acceptable.
Good hotel, Excellent location, Bad sleeping experience
FrequentBizTraveler1on 24/07/2017 13:38Due to overbooking of my favourite hotel next door, completed a one night ad hoc stay at his hotel. Location is perfect, in the heart of the town, just next to the fornicular station which connects you with the central train station. Great benefit. Check in was quick, kind service. Room was surprisingly large and so was the bathroom. Clean. Normal 3 star experience. Breakfast next morning exceeded expectations for a 3 star hotel. Also good service. They also offered good gluten free food choices. Check out was also quick and efficient.
The benefit is also it's major downside, the location next to the fornicular rail makes it impossible to sleep. Very noisy and the window isolation is no good. The noise from the AC is equally bad.
So overall good ad hoc alternative if the other hotels are booked but one wouldn't expect to sleep well, if at all.

Eric Son 14/07/2017 23:01The room has air conditioning so we were able to keep the window shut! That's a nice benefit. We had a room with the view of the funicular. The noise never bothered us. We run noise apps on our phone when we sleep, so I'm sure that helped. The location was perfect. The hotel provided cards for free public transportation around town. We used it to ride the funicular which was only feet from the entrance of the hotel. It took us right up the hill to the train station. The room decor was interesting, but clean and comfortable.
Basic hotel, good location
Plc4433on 18/06/2017 08:51Pros- hotel is in great location right off the funicular in the middle of town. Rooms are air conditioned. Hotel is clean. Easy to walk everywhere.
Cons- basic accommodations similar to a dorm room. Views of concrete walls. No amenities, basically a clean place to sleep. Breakfast is ok with not many choices.
For price accommodations are not close to what you would get in USA but prices in Lugano are so high that this is what you get.
