great hotel in a quiet location

lovely room at the front of the hotel with a large balcony.
Room was well appointed and cared for with excellent sound proofing.
We found the food available was of a high quality and there was something for everybody.
Only down side was having to ask for fresh squeezed orange and coffee at breakfast, it should be the norm rather than weak diluting juice and not very good coffee in the urn.
Also Ice cream available at dinner but you need to ask!
We charged drinks to our room and at the end the bill was spot on but was only asked to sign for them twice out of seven night.
Minor, very minor blips in an otherwise wonderful stay.
But remember if you are looking for a wild night life Slano is not for you!

This is the first time we have visited South Croatia and the scenery is simply amazing. The sea was crystal blue and you are joined in the sea by fish...lots of fish. Take footwear for the sea as there are urchins about as well as tiny rocks which can be painful when stood on. The location of the hotel is knock out and you cannot help but be in awe of the mountain range behind and bay in front.
Our room was fine; clean and tidy but not remarkable. Balcony was on a corner so we had shops on one side and sea to the other. Views were simply fabulous. Like others have commented pillows were hard and no alternative.
Breakfast was much better than dinner. Lots of choice and fresh fruit, cheese, cold meats etc. Dinner was edible but not inspiring. Found it annoying that no drink provided with evening meal but that is my opinion. Mark up on drinks in the evening are very high. Wine overpriced and overrated. Head to a bar instead and find yourself a better deal.
We did 2 trips- one with tui and one with online company called happytovisit. Tui trip was the vineyard tour. We should have asked how long was spent travelling as we wouldn't have done it if realised more time would be spent on a coach than enjoying vineyards. 2 hours there, 3 hours at vineyards and then 2 hours back. Not value for money as most time spent cooped up on a coach.
Other trip was 3 island tour on a galleon. Pick up from the hotel and drop off included in total price. Excellent all round trip where got to explore and see more of this beautiful part of the world. Will book again with this online company as huge difference in price and experience.
Admiral Hotel we will not return to. Just all a bit so so. You hope for a 5 star to find that something that makes it stand out. Just didn't find it. Slano is a great place to visit and you certainly will find it a place to unwind and chill. Croatia we definitely will head back to as we love the warm friendly people and beautiful countryside. As a last mention we found our tui rep Diana to be honest, friendly and helpful.

Pleasant holiday

Have returned from a two week break our first time here, we are a family of 5 two older children and a 7 year old . Although we had a wonderful holiday something would stop us returning . Hotel lovely , clean, maid service brilliant indoor swimming pool great my son made friends and spent lots of time in here . The food we didn't find repetitive it's obvious a few things come out the same night after night but that's normal it was all tasty and lots of choice , like someone else commented we didn't realise you could order a decent coffee for breakfast . Outside the hotel in places they were really chatty and friendly Boat trip was fun and beautiful to Sipan and lopud . We got a bus to ston which dropped us in the middle of nowhere . A 6km walk away from ston with no pavement in blistering heat ! Slano is quiet and after two weeks it bacame a bit boring what to do in the evening as the hotel only had a couple of men playing music one night a week and a pianist in reception another night and that was it . In the hotel bar I didn't even hear background music . They had a TV in the bar but was hardly on . Some Children might get bored here for two weeks especially in the evenings . Beach is lovely although I found myself litter picking , can't stand seeing litter in the sea staff don't seem to walk around the beach areas collecting glasses and rubbish regularly. Really don't know why they charge for tennis . For me the hotel lacked atmosphere and Would suit couples and older family groups and personally I think a week is enough here.
It is a lovely hotel though just didn't tick every box for us

Great facilities and location

The Admiral Grand is well run and has great facilites. We especially enjoyed the convenience of the private beach with comfortable sun lounges and enough umbrellas to go round. The breakfast was good In terms of variety and service. We only ate in the hotel one evening and that was good. We tried out several of the local restaurants and our favourite was the restaurant at the marina - really excellent food, drinks and service. The indoor and outdoor pools are a good size and never too busy. The spa was very good - can comment the energising facial and aroma massage. We booked a water taxi to Dubrovnik which picked us up from the hotel and enabled us to decide our own times. The only disappointment was the room. We had booked three mountain view rooms. One had a balcony and view but the other two had no view at all apart from a concrete building opposite and no balconies. This did not however stop us from having a good time and the room was clean and comfortable. If I booked again I would only do so on the proviso that I had at least some view as advertised"

Wannabe hotel designed in Communist style

When you take a look to Slano, there is only one thing sticking out - it is this horrible massive structure bigger than anything there. Well we gotta do what we gotta do, we checked in and got a double bedroom in the back, with absolutely no sea view. My first advice to anybody booking here is to check are they getting a sea-view room because what they call a standard bedroom is a room looking at the parking lot. Later, we went to the beach and by far this is the worst beach we saw in Croatia, water is not clear, it is messy from the nearby marina having there hundreds of boats just 300 meters away. The only decent thing here was breakfast. Soon after it, the best part was going away from this place.
