Smiling friendly owners. The hotel is a little old fashioned but guests are made to feel very comfortable and at ease. Note there is no lift. Convenient for station. Restaurants nearby. Fine for a simple stay

Centrally located and good value for money; be cautious about the security of parking

It is a bit difficult to write a fair review of this hotel. My stay ended up being not so pleasant, but this was due to reasons beyond the hotel's control.

I stayed one night at Hotel Agena. The hotel is rather centrally located, just a few minutes' walk from Rue de Siam and not very far from the railway station. It is reasonably priced, and it provides a good base for a short visit to Brest.

The proprietor and staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome. My room was clean and of good size, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was adequate for the price paid but a bit limited in choice.

There is ample parking available on the street and in the parking lot between the hotel and the railway station. I cannot describe this as a secure parking environment, though.

I was sleeping tight until I was woken up in the middle of the night (a bit past 2 a.m.) by some loud shouting and banging from the street. There were some young men smashing windows and cars, and, among other things, the hotel's entrance got kicked in (this probably made the loudest banging noise). Luckily enough, I had left my motorcycle on a side street around the corner, where it remained undamaged, probably unnoticed by the vandals. I was a bit shocked by this disturbance and could not fall asleep again that night.

Of course, this incident was not in any way the hotel's fault. Nevertheless, it left me with a bad feeling about my visit to Brest, which otherwise seemed quite a peaceful and orderly city. Moreover, it reminded me of the importance of secure parking facilities while on a motorcycle tour.
