traveltogether67on 05/10/2016 08:27A working Tuscan farm, beautiful. We spent two nights during our Italy tour, but could stay for a month. Pictures cannot tell the story of the natural beauty surrounding the place. Friendly and helpful hosts. On our last night we had a farm dinner under the stars with wine from their barrel and a spread of Italian dishes. Live music and dancing. And midnight swimming in the huge pool overlooking the valley. Highly recommended.
Relaxing retreat
Lee Ron 09/09/2016 01:19September 2014...We stayed for an extra week we loved it so much. Staff are very friendly & obliging. There are some beautiful walks in the area. Weather was awesome, half an hour walk to train station, downhill into town & uphill back!! Need an average+ level of fitness to get back up the hill. Then only 25 minutes by train to Florence, which is so central you can do many day trips by train or bus. Staff provided taxi into town every day between 8am-8pm.
The accommodation was 3 star rating which was fine, we gave our bathroom an extra clean on arrival & all was great. When staying in an awesome very old villa one can't expect to have top of the range gadgets etc...this added to the beauty of our stay.
Idyllic, friendly and family focussed
cchall80on 06/09/2016 07:57What a treat, the staff, the accommodation and the location are as described. We have an age range of 9-87 year olds. Self catering, perfectly appointed apartments and supermarkets near by. Easy to get around but you would need your own car. We will return but for longer next time. Staff delightful, wine produced by the Fattoria delicious!

It is the perfect Tuscan retreat and in a fantastic location for all the main areas you would visit in this part of Italy (Florence/Siena etc)
We stayed in a slight bigger appartment "Girosole 1" down at the front, so wasnt in thr immediate area of the farm, but we liked this as it was so peaceful and the views from the balcony were amazing!
Pool was fabulous, as the weather was a barmy 30c so was a nice place to relax, if we wernt driving our car around.
Business as usual at Castiglionchio and would definitely come again, and continue to recommend to friend's and family.
***Only gripe would be, the TVs need updating in some of the rooms, not an issue if the weather is good, but chilling in the rooms in bed of an evening etc, would be great if the TV's were more modern and bigger.
A pity...
Bonish33on 04/02/2016 15:44I was there with my family (5 person) in 2003 for almost 2 weeks and it was perfect! The place was and still is magic! Not very far from Florence, but peacefull. More that 10 years ago all Fattoria was really kept well, everything was clean and funcional. We enjoyed the stay so mych, that we decided to come back, all together in 2015. We rent a house for a week fo Easter. And that was just a nightmare! Everything was stinky, I mean really smelling like mould. It was cold and for the first day we didn't have a hot water (there was sth like 12 degrees). The kitchen was more that dirty with plenty of old and really sticky pots and pans. We were cleaning for hours before unpacking. Instead of fresh sheets there were verrrrry old stinky blankets. And more - there was no wifi. Only at the receprion, almost 100m away.
We did stay there to the end, as it was Easter, so there was no appartments avaliable and more we did not want to destroy the family reunion, but.... I will never ever go there again! Even for free. And no other member of my family. It was really disappointing to find that beautiful place in such a state. Until easter 2015 we had the most pleasent memoeries about this place....
