What People are saying

Absolutely loved it here!!!

Angela Bon 05/10/2016 17:42

I visited La Badiola in September of 2016. I must say that it was one of the best places I've ever stayed. Paola was just the most wonderful hostess and we were treated like family. We will be returning again with our children. I highly recommend La Badiola for you trip to the Tuscan region. It was the perfect base to see all the regions of Tuscany. We just loved it!!!

Return Visit Did Not Disappoint

Scongataon 04/10/2016 05:38

I visited La Badiola in 2013. My review of that visit is on Trip Advisor. This time I returned for 5 nights with my cousin and his wife and his wife's girlfriend. My cousin and his wife had an apartment and her friend and I each had a room to ourselves. The owner and hostess, Paola, is wonderful. She made all of us feel like family. She speaks English well and we were able to have many enjoyable conversations with her. La Badiola is ideal for anyone who wishes to have a delightful and peaceful stay at an agriturismo. There are olive trees and fig trees on the property. There are also chickens and 4 or 5 beautiful black roosters that you can see and hear. I knew I would enjoy staying here, but I wasn't sure if my family would like it. Well they did not like it, they loved it and they felt that Paola was a most gracious hostess. She prepared breakfast for us every day and we had a very nice variety of different, tasty sweet treats from which to choose. The first night we arrived Paola prepared us a dinner that was wonderful. She served us tagliatelle in a Tuscan ragu which we all felt it was unbelievably delicious. When we asked her how she made such a delicious sauce she gladly told us how. She also served us mouthwatering chicken cutlets with mozzarella cheese that was equally delicious. She is just a great cook! La Badiola contains many antique Italian furnishings that makes you realize that you are in Italy. If you like a very crowded agriturismo with a large noisy dining room when eating and a swimming pool than La Badiola is not for you. If you want to feel like you are living at home in Italy where the sound of roosters and birds are a delight and the peacefulness of the area adds to the atmosphere. Choice is perfectly located from Tuscan hill towns like Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino. La Badiola is only about 30 minutes from the most beautiful area in all of Tuscany and that is the Val D'orcia region. You can walk to the small, delightful hill town of Chiusi from La Badiola and visit an Etruscan museum there and take an underground tour. The Chiusi Chianciamo train station is a relatively quick 15 minute car ride away. You could easily take a train to Florence and return later that evening. We did it and it worked out perfectly. Chiusi is on the border of Tuscany and Umbria which affords you the opportunity to drive to Orvieto in southern Umbria or take a 30 minute train ride there to see the magnificent Orvieto Cathedral and experience the excellent Underground Tour of this delightful walkable town. You could also drive to Cortona which is in eastern Tuscany close to the Umbrian border, or drive to Umbrian towns like Perugia and the beautiful Assisi. You won't be disappointed. La Badiola is a perfect base and Paola will surely make you feel like you are visiting a dear friend. We all agreed that we would love to visit there again.

Charming agroturismo

I've stay in La Badiola for one night in charming apartment. It is beautiful farm with olive trees, lavender and two friendly horses.
Apartment I've stay in was charming. It was exactly what I expected and I loved it, however I believe it wouldn't be everyone cup of tea. If traveler is use to big commercial hotels won't appreciate the charm and character of this beautiful and peaceful farm.
The host was a lovely lady with the truth love and passion for her Business and respect for her guests. She even offer to drive me to town for dinner and collect me afterwards.

Experience truth Tuscany in La Badiola!!!!!
I'll be back for sure and ill stay longer next time.

Thank you very much Paula!!!!

Oh I forget to mention I had for breakfast the best fig marmalade made from fruits which grown just in front of the apartment I stayed in.

Beautiful Tuscan B&B in Chiusi

KaiToronto2014on 09/07/2014 04:15

This charming B&B is located just outside of Chiusi on a charming hilltop farm setting.
The hotess, Mrs. Paola Giannotti is warm and welcoming and has lots of knowledge of the history and culture of this Italian jewel. The house is an old stone building with lots of Italian character surrounded by beautiful lavendar fields, horses and places to stroll after dinner. Take a short car ride into the old ancient town of Chiusi to discover the unique significance of this town and its place in history.
It is about 10 mins drive from the Chiusi Train station. We were there in June and enjoyed our stay at La Badiola.

Wonderful owner

I enjoyed my stay at La Badiola very much. Signora Paola was very attentive to my needs. She was the perfect hostess. Before arriving in Chiusi I had emailed the agriturismo asking if someone could pick me up at the train station. I knew the farm was not far from the train station, but I was uncertain how to get there. When I did arrive I did not see anyone so I walked over to an area where I saw taxis and asked if someone knew how to get to La Badiola and with that they pointed to Signora Paola who was waiting for me. She had apparently told them to watch for someone who might ask them how to get to the farm. I was pleasantly surprised to see that she had gotten my message. The ride to the farm took less than 10 minutes. The room she had prepared for me was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Outside the room was a table which always had something on it such as natural fruit juice, fruit, or some kind of pastry if I ever got hungry. I had a my own private bathroom right next to my room. Every morning, Signora Paola would serve me breakfast which consisted of various croissants which were always fresh and tasty served with coffee. It was easy to speak with her because she spoke English and I knew some basic Italian. When I would leave after breakfast to visit different hilltowns such as Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, San Gimingnano, etc. She would give me helpful advice and let me know how long it should take me. I am glad I chose Chiusi as a base to visit this section of Tuscany because it was also near Umbria which enabled me to visit Assisi, Perugia, and Orvieto. I was also glad that I chose La Badiola as my base because I felt like I was staying with a relative. Signora Paola's son, Allesandro, a very nice and respectful young fellow would prepare delicious meals. He surprised me one evening with a delicious dish of Pappadelle al Cinghiale which are flat noodles with wild boar because he heard me tell his mom that one day I wanted to try this famous Tuscan dish. Well, he made it and boy was it good. Another evening he prepared chicken cutlets in a delicious sauce with porcini mushrooms that he had found when going mushroom hunting with friends. I told him he should pursue a culinary career. He also prepared a tasty pie or some other dessert to accompany dinner. I was not able to rent a car the day after I arrived because Avis was closed since it was a Sunday so Signora Paola took me up Chiusi, drove me around the historic center suggesting places I could visit and dropped me off. She told me she would pick me up when I was finished seeing the sites in Chiusi. I thanked her, but told her I would enjoy the fifteen minute walk back to the agriturismo. There was a day or two when there was another couple staying at the small farm. One couple was from Milan and the other was from Thailand. We would be served breakfast and dinner outside in a very cosy canopy- like tent with candles lit for dinner which created a wonderful setting. We were served delicious home made wine with dinner as well. If and when I return to Italy, I would not hesitate to stay at La Badiola again.
