Peace and relax
dancan1983on 22/05/2017 21:28Wonderful place in the green italian country. Perfect service and courtesy of the family. Right place where have a break and relax. Loved to rest and have a sunbath in front of the pool with the green all around.
Fantastic stay with kids
Mandarino1on 14/09/2014 22:35We stayed at the Ferraia with out children aged 4 and 3 for one week in August this year (2014) and it was a wonderful experience. There are various elements that made our holiday there really perfect:
1. The food was amazing. We had dinner there every evening and about 4 times out of 7 also the lunch. The ingredients come mostly from the own bio-garden and meat from the local butcher. The pasta is usually handmade (often by the "mamma" of the owners, who is now past 80) and marmalades for breakfast are also homemade; usually from fruits of the own garden. For our children they always offered to prepare something separate, although they usually ventured into the plates they had for offer for dinner (and they always loved them). The Ferraia team was also very flexible with eating hours, as we often arrived after 10 for breakfast and that was still okay...or we had dinner for the kids earlier than the normal dinner hours and that was also no problem.
2. The swimming pool: Since you are not all too close to the sea (about 1 hour), it's great to have a swimming pool where you can refresh yourself after a long city or mountain tour. Our kids loved the pool.
3. Location: This is the perfect place to stay in August, when more touristy places are just overcrowded with people from all over the world. Since it isn't directly on the beach, the area is never as full of tourists as many other places in Italy. Nonetheless, the location of it is still such that you can do day-trips to the beach, to the mountains (we absolutely loooooooooved Monte Petrana) or beautiful cities such as Urbino, Corinaldo, Cagli, Mondavio, etc.
4. Animals: Our kids loved to go see the wildboars and other animals that they kept on the farm.
5. Friendly: And last but not least I have to say that people at the Ferraia were just really friendly and helpful. Also, the rooms were kept super clean and were tastefully decorated.
The only thing is that you need to have a car to get there and to move around, otherwise you are bound to the place without any chance to explore the wonderful surroundings. There is very limited public transport around.
We will certainly return there next summer!
A place to remember
Marco Pon 06/07/2014 21:51We stayed at this B&B twice in June and July 2014. "La Ferraia" is the classic family-run
"agriturismo", but with the style of a high class resort. The rooms in the ancient stone building were tastefully decorated, spacious, quiet and very clean. We had a delicious dinner both times, which included organic products from their garden and local farms. Activities include visiting local villages, hiking, driving to close-by Gubbio and Urbino or simply relaxing at the swimming pool. Warmth and cordiality of the 3 generation family adds the final touch to this perfect getaway!
A lovely, relaxing weekend
Lisa Con 13/11/2012 15:24Immersed in a gorgeous woodland setting, La Ferraia welcomed us with a beautifully decorated room, meals fit for the gods and warm hospitality on the part of the owners. It is conveniently located near interesting sights such as the Renaissance jewel-box town of Urbino, Gubbio and Castello di Frontone, which is worth visiting at night when it is all lit up. The food at La Ferraia is absolutely scrumptious. We feasted on everything from homemade gnocchi and tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms to fabulous cuts of meat. The owners were delightful, recommending places to visit and giving us a tour of the Agriturismo, including showing us the animals that they raise. We highly recommend a lovely, relaxing stay at the Agriturismo La Ferraia!
