A true gem in the countryside
Sophie_Sundayon 13/11/2016 07:34We were driving from Milan towards Switzerland and we had nothing organised - I found this place online and called around 6pm and they were able to accommodate us without any trouble. We had no idea what to expect but when we arrived we found this absolutely gorgeous assembly of old stone buildings on the side of the hill. We were met by the very friendly owners and shown to our beautiful stone cottage which they had heated up ready for us! Our 2 kids 5 & & slept in the loft upstairs and it was very comfortable for us. We had dinner there in the restaurant which was delicious and memorable. The next morning we woke to stunning views across the valley. The autumn colours are incredible! We had breakfast there too which was absolutely spot on. The owners were so friendly and welcoming and even though we had only 1 night here it has stayed in our memory. We wished we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend. (we actually visited in October last year but only getting around to writing all my reviews now!)
Fantastic! Friendly, welcoming staff - excellent food - beautiful location!
hiphikeron 08/10/2016 18:31Where to begin? My wife and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary with our first trip to Europe. We started our 2-week vacation with 2 nights at Agriturismo la Tensa. It was the perfect way to settle in after a 20-hour trek from Colorado. We took a Comazzi bus from Malpensa to Domodossola and then a taxi up-up-up on a winding road through a few small charming towns until we arrived at this mystical village. The friendly hosts, Chiara and Fabio, were expecting us and showed us to our very comfortable room in one of the restored stone houses. They spent 10 years restoring the stone buildings of this old farm village with its terraced hillsides...simply amazing! For dinner we ate at the Osteria onsite where we encountered Simonetta and Chef Sabrina. They cast a magical spell over us with their hospitality and delectable foods. In 55 years, we have never had meals this delicious. The flavors of Sabrina's meals were supernatural. We spent one day hiking the trails in the area to Anzuno and Cruppi and enjoying the beautiful views of the nearby mountains and Domodossola valley. Chiara prepared wonderful breakfasts each morning. We departed on a Saturday morning (via taxi back to the train station) and spent a couple hours shopping the street market in Domodossola. Apparently, the market is every Saturday from 8 am - 3 pm and offers local foods, clothing, jewelry, handbags, etc... We would have stayed and shopped much longer but had a train to catch and couldn't really drag everything around Europe with us for 2 weeks. Next time, we may make this our last stop of the trip. Either way, you can't go wrong visiting la Tensa!
Great! Unique!
komme742on 02/10/2016 13:49A unique restored mini village close to Domodossola in Italy. Chiara and Fabio take care of a warm welcome and pleasant stay. The appartment (Val Grande) is like a cosey house. Including cosey fireplace. The region is perfect for hiking. Within an hour driving all marvellous hotspots are available including romantic Lago d'Orta and the famous Lago Maggiore.
The restaurant has a somewhat limited choice in the menu. The quality is outstanding (!)
We will certanly return to this hotspot.
Such a beautiful place to relax...
Billaleo_1on 08/08/2016 14:42Agriturismo della Tensa is really a wonderful place where you can find relax athmosphere few km from Domodossola, in the middle of the forest.
Our room (Monterosa, double room with another small bed on the top floor) is nice, spacious, clean and with an incredible sight of the valley....
Staff is nice and very kind and the breakfast is super with handmade jam and cioccolate cakes (in summer you can take breakfast outside with mountains sight).
Everythink is perfect!!!
Lovely mountain inn in the hills outside Domodossola
nancy non 03/08/2016 03:13Such a charming, picturesque hotel set in the hills overlooking Domodossola. The view was spectacular, the staff were all very helpful and sweet. Loved hanging out on the deck outside the restaurant in the early evening. The rooms were contemporary and clean but with a rustic, old world charm. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant and a wonderful breakfast in the breakfast room the next morning.
