What People are saying

Disappointing, not at all as portrayed

Pied_des_Cevenneson 03/05/2017 16:36

This place is very different from how it is portrayed at its agriturismo site, and for the life of us, we just cannot understand the many positive reviews. Perhaps it has recently changed? (Some new signs did not seem to include "agriturismo" in the name.) We've stayed at many agriturismos, and this was our worst experience. The website says that it has 3 rooms and 10 beds. However, it seems to have dozens of rooms, scattered over the property. This is far more like an impersonal hotel than an agriturismo. To be fair, the room itself was very nice, spacious and with a terrace and nice view. However, at an agriturismo, we expect some contact with the owners and with farming, local and preferably products produced at the site, and some pride in what they are doing. There was none of this here, it's just a commercial property, also seemingly specialising in hosting major events such as weddings. When we asked for advice about where to go exploring, the staff were nice enough, but they really had no idea, for example giving us inaccurate information about local markets which we were especially interested in.

Worst of all were the meals. Really inedible, which is hard to find anywhere in Italy. Despite the promise and what one has every right to expect at an agriturismo, there was nothing local offered to us. The pasta was served lukewarm; it clearly had been sitting around for some time rather than made fresh, and it tasted of tinned sauce. One of our "secondi" was "tomatoes and mozzarella". This can mean many things, but what was served was a cold, tasteless tomato with a slide of a block of industrial mozzarella – even though this is supposed to be a sheep farm. No sauce or seasoning of any type. No warmth at all in the service. Really disappointing, hard to recommend.

Amazing views, tranquil Location.....

We stayed here as a couple for a week, last week of Oct.We were here as guests of a wedding being held here....
The setting us stunning, nestled high on the side of the hill, with views of the mountains one way, & views of the sea in the other direction.
Spacious rooms, big balcony....mini fridge, good bed linen, good sized bathroom , plenty of towels. Good house keeping. Excellent ,free wi fi.
Great pool area, lots of sunbeds.
Good quality breakfast, fresh, home baked bread, hams, cheese, eggs, pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, coffees, & tea. An elevated dining area, with an exterior terrace ,which was perfect for taking coffee after breakfast... All very laid back. No rush. Great evening meal, with their own very good wine included in the price. Excellent value.
Would definately stay again, & happy to recommend anyone if you want a quiet ,beautiful, base. Not ideal for the less mobile though.. It's steep.... An English speaking ,helpful, friendly owner, Sara. .
The wedding was beautiful, & the food fabulous.....all thanks to Su Vrau.

Rubbish

Inauthentic food, all about the money. I am truly disappointed by this place. I spent hours researching agriturismo places. I am stuck here for the next 2 nights and just want to leave. Bright restaurant that hurts your eyes. No atmosphere. I have been to proper places and this is not one. Grotty rooms. Basic as they come. Don't come here!

if you're looking for a genuine Agriturismo then give this a miss

The large swimming pool was lovely, as were the views. Although the food itself was good, there was an air of Fawlty Towers about the place. This is a large commercial operation with around 100 people eating at meal times, as a result the food was a little mass catered, and many families with young children were staying making it feel a little like a holiday camp. The room was tiny and the dated tv and skybox wasn't working. The shower was the tiniest I've ever seen!

Different, but good.

I don't often write reviews, but I found this place on Tripadvisor and took a chance. So I feel I should pay it forward. There are mixed reviews and obviously this place is not for everyone. However, for us it was perfect. It is not a traditional agriturismo, and at the same time, it's not a full service hotel. But it might be just what you are looking for. We travelled as a family of four during the high season (August 2016) and stayed 6 nights. It was our first trip to Sardinia and we don't speak Italian. We spent the first week on a boat up in the Maddalena Islands and Costa Smerelda. We wanted to explore the rest of the island by car and were looking for a base that was reasonably well situated. Su Vrau was an oasis of peace and calm for us. While the Costa Smerelda was packed, even the local beaches near Posada were super busy, driving up to Su Vrau was an escape from all the madness and a chance to relax with a wonderful view. Yes, it's true not everyone can speak English. We downloaded an Italian dictionary onto our phone and it helped us make dinner selections at breakfast. We didn't eat there every night. Frankly just wanted to try a couple of different places. The food and wine were good and plentiful, and we found the staff to be very friendly, despite a language barrier. By the way, if you go there, take an afternoon and visit the tower on the hill that you look down onto. It's the Castel Della Flava in the old part of Posada on the hill. It was very charming, interesting history and spectacular 360 degree views, and it's right there. Otherwise, the location is good for sightseeing other parts of the island. Olbia was about 30 kms and a quick drive on the highway. The other direction south was also a very good road. It worked well for us as a sightseeing base.
