Must go!
Koen Ron 31/08/2017 11:15Absolutely great hotel in Jodhpur, fairly priced!
Stayed in an amazing tent which was large, clean, had a good AC and a large bathroom. The terrain is beautiful and very wel maintained, both during the day and during the night. The swimming pool is also a must and great to come back to after a hot day in the city.
Special thanks to the room cleaning and Bhagwan Sing, wo took great care of us during our stay.
Highly recommend this place to other guests and will definitely come back if in Jodhpur!
Amazing stay in the perfect Heritage Hotel
sidrainaon 29/08/2017 18:29Stayed here for three nights in February 2017. The check in was seamless and the staff was courteous and quick. The room which was given to us originally had an issue with a bathroom leak which was promptly taken care off and a new room given to us after an apology from the Hotel Manager.
The evening dinner has a performance by Rajasthani folk dancers which is a treat to watch. The food was excellent and the servers were polite and really nice to talk to.
The breakfast spread was adequate and the quality of food was good. I vaguely mentioned to the Hotel Manager about my wife's birthday the next day and I was surprised to find the room decorated and a cake on the table as a surprise.
This is what separates a good from a great hotel. Attention to detail, impeccable service and great food is what sets this hotel apart. Will highly recommend !!
Nice heritage place to stay
Shekhar Son 26/08/2017 08:03The place is well located and retains the charm of heritage. The front desk is quite cooperative. All the rooms in the hotel are unique with heritage stamp all over them. But one small issue with the facilities provided in the room, the room alloted to me was with a television quite outdated, as did not have any USB input, so I had to change the room twice. Well to retain the charm of heritage is ok but it is wise to provide state of the art facilities for occupants. Apart from this the rooms are quite spacious and clean. The restaurant is nice, but the menu on buffet is pretty much the same all days. May be management can have a relook into it. The staff in restaurant is somewhat aloof as they had to be asked for basics like serving water and removing used plates, etc. So may be F&B manager may look into it. Overall the stay was good and would definitely love to revisit in future.
Calling it a heritage hotel is misleading
howsey51on 26/08/2017 03:21Overall the feeling we took away from the Ajit Bhawan was that we had been very much misled. The hotel promotes itself as a heritage hotel. It may be that there is an old building here, but you certainly won't be seeing any of it apart from the reception. The rooms are just bizarre faux mud concrete huts dotted around a sprawling area outside the building. If you are expecting to experience any history here- you will be disappointed. Many times we have stayed in historic places where accommodation is in a new building, but at least usually you get to enjoy some common areas in the historic building, but here the bar, restaurant, in fact- everything is in new buildings resembling a Bedrock disney theme park.
The rooms were very nicely decorated and comfortable, but most (like ours) are stuck amongst a sprawl of similar buildings away from any lawns or views.
The website states that Deluxe suites like we booked have garden or pool views with a balcony and a private sit out. Our room had none of these things - only a view of other concrete huts. When we complained that we felt we had been misled staff replied 'all the rooms are different' which we felt was inadequate. Then the manager told us that we had in fact been upgraded to an Ajit suite although our room did not have any of the advertised features of an Ajit suite either.
Prior to arriving I emailed the hotel to ask about the possibility of a babysitter- no one bothered to reply.
The pool is nice but there are over 70 rooms and around 10-12 sun loungers. Therefore most of the time there is nowhere you can sit around the pool. We were in the pool area for several days but only once did anyone come to take a drink request leaving you to traipse through the bar in your swim clothes.
The bar is nicely designed, but we never had a drink there as every time we entered there was a television blaring out local news at high volume which did not create a nice atmosphere to relax. You are given drinks tokens when you arrive to use at the bar but they wouldn't allow us to take the drinks outside to the pool area (if we used the voucher- otherwise it was fine) so we didn't bother which was just bizarre.
The meal prices are incredibly high. We ate at a 5 star hotel in Jodhpur (one of the Taj group) and the prices there were much less than the restaurant prices at Ajit Bhawan. The nearby on the rocks restaurant is excellent.
Hotel transport prices are outrageous. Make sure you get Uber before you arrive or barter hard with auto-rickshaws.
Breakfast was very good and the staff at breakfast were wonderful always doting on our little daughter and bringing her treats. It was very welcoming and we enjoyed this part of our day every time!
I have tried to leave constructive feedback for the hotel, and it is a nice place to stay, but I do think that it is woefully misrepresented. The general manager at the wonderful Rawla Narlai told us how it had developed from a few rooms to the massive property it is today. Sadly I think what it once was has been lost somewhat.
Good Hotel - Great Service
PARITOSH Son 24/08/2017 09:48Great place to stay.
- Very friendly staff. Special appreciation for Kamini. Not 100% sure if I got the name right. She greeted us at the check-in and showed us around. Keep up the good work
- B'ful pool and open air restaurant
- Staff at the Bar needs to be more friendly especially the manager
