A disappointing change this year

I am, very sadly, downgrading my review of this hotel. I have stayed here previously on many occasions and it has always been excellent - cosy, friendly, clean, and with a variety of amenities. A home away from home, with a laundry and basic kitchens available for guest use. This year, having arrived with some very simple groceries for the week (as eating out in Sweden is expensive!), we discovered that the two kitchens previously on floors 2 and 3 are in the process of being converted into further bedrooms. There is one microwave still available for use, and the staff very kindly put our things in the hotel's main fridge, but it was an imposition on them to keep asking them to put things in or take them out as we needed them and we felt terrible doing so. If nothing else, some warning prior to our stay that the kitchens were being removed would have been nice. I'm really reluctant to stay elsewhere when I visit Uppsala, as I'm so fond of Akademihotellet, but it is no longer offering the amenities I have come to depend upon.

Decent room, excellent breakfast and setting

The hotel is very conveniently located both for the university and the historical center of town. The room was nice - a bit basic, but comfortable bed, warm, and clean. Breakfast is really good, with a wide range of options including delicious warm pancakes. Hot drinks and biscuits and sometimes other exciting pastries are available throughout the day. Every floor also has open comfortable seating/reading nooks with lovely views of the Cathedral - really cozy and pleasant! All in all, we were happy there.

Comfortable and clean

It is a nice place - a little outside the city centre. Most importantly, they have very clean sheets. The room facilities are also fine. They have heating under the bathroom tile - but for some reason that stopped working in the morning.

Breakfast is fine - can be a little better. The greatest thing is that their coffee machine brews really good coffee. One can also, free of charge, enjoy the coffee throughout the day. The only reason I am giving four stars is that, considering the pricing, things can be little better, or the prices.

Very nice hotel 10-15 minutes walking distance to city center. Comfortable and clean room and bed. On the street side but good isolation and pretty quite. Friendly staff and tasty breakfast. I did not like very small, really very small bathroom. But it was clean with floor heating. Can fully recommend. 😆

Family-style hotel

This hotel is located in a very nice zone in Uppsala, near the Cathedral and not too far from the center. The breakfast each morning included in the price of the room is also excellent and you can have free coffee and cookies all day. Rooms on the other side are very old, would rather class them as the ones you can find in a two-star hotel, with super tiny bathrooms. You go there for the ambience (family style), the really good prices, and the location.
