Great Stay Right in the Heart of Rome!

Loved staying here! Aklesia was wonderful and very helpful during our short stay in Rome. Location was great and easily accessible to all the major sites in Rome. Would definitely go back here on our next visit to this amazing city!

A fantastic home base in Rome

We stayed here for 9 nights - first it was just me while attending a conference for work, and then my wife joined for a few days of vacation.

This is a phenomenal place to stay for a couple who wants to be conveniently located near the sites of the city center while still feeling like you are staying in an authentic neighborhood. The Colosseum and Roman Forum are 2 blocks away (and you can see them out the window!), Piazza Navona/Pantheon/etc. are about a 20 minute walk away, and Trastevere is about 25 minutes. There are metro stops for both the A and B lines within a couple blocks. Nearby, there are some good restaurant options in case you don't feel like making a trek to dinner (although ask Gianfranco or Aklesia for recommendations and/or cross-reference the web, because the area immediately next to the Colosseum is filled with tourist traps). One interesting factoid for history buffs: the basement of the building is actually built on ruins from the Roman Forum area.

We stayed in the Golden View Room, which was the largest and nicest of the three. The bed has a really nice memory foam mattress and the room is tasteful (and very Roman) in decor and character. The bedroom is quite large, though the bathroom and shower are small by American standards (fairly standard for Europe), and larger men may need to squeeze a bit in order to fit in the shower. Best of all for our July visit, the air conditioner works well. I only had brief glimpses into the other two rooms, and they looked equally tasteful, if a bit smaller. There is a bit of traffic noise at night, and the rising sun will wake you if you forget to draw the curtains, but we slept like babies. Wifi worked well.

Breakfast was simple but satisfactory - know that Italian breakfast is heavy on pastry, sweets, and carbs. Enjoy a cornetto, some cheese, fruit, and yogurt with your coffee, then do as the Romans do and grab a quick bite in mid-morning if you are feeling hungry. Aklesia varied the menu from day to day, and was more than happy to cater to our tastes. If you have dietary restrictions, I'm sure she would do her best to accommodate them.

That brings me to the best part of Aklesia Suite: Aklesia and Gianfranco. They were gracious hosts, interesting to talk to, always able to help us plan our day or answer questions, and really put a personal touch on our vacation. Whether it was making us breakfast a bit early so we could go on a day trip, or even washing our clothes for us when we were in a pinch, Aklesia went above and beyond and we were sad to leave her!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Aklesia Suite B&B to any couple who is travelling, as long as you have no mobility issues (I counted 77 steps up to the room). You won't regret it.

Lovely authentic Roman B&B

My partner and i stayed here in April 2015, we had views over looking the Colosseum, it was a wonderful room really authentic with all the amenities you would expect, i think we had the biggest and best room there, i'm not sure i would have been as happy in any of the other rooms i saw while there. Aklesia and her husband were very helpful and couldn't do enough for you, i would say it was slightly over bearing at times, some people I imagine would love that but it wasn't really for us and would probably put us off going back there. For example when we arrived we were shown around our room as you would expect but then they didn't leave us to settle in, it was a good 45 minutes in the room awkwardly handing over payment for the stay etc which i feel could have been done else where. However they were very nice as was the breakfast, she even gave us a some to take away for our day out.

Perfect B&B near Colosseum.

Aklesia is so friendly and nice. The room is very clean and big. The breakfast is the best one I ever have among the B&B. Both of couple are very helpful to me. Aklesia gave me many information about Rome. She also offered me to wash some clothes for me, which was important for me in the middle of my two weeks trip.

FANTASTIC AKLESIA

Staying at this romantic and lovely city our accomodation was a great experience for us. The owner, Aklesia is a very friendly and helpful woman feeling her great hospitality from our arrival there. The room was beautiful, very clean, cozy, lightful, with unbelieveble view, at a place that was near of the historical center of the city and indeed too close to Coloseum on foot! Excellent breakfast and fantastic memories of our staying there. Hoping to visit Rome again and stay there without second thought.
