Dream holiday!

Savvyshellon 28/08/2017 22:20

Myself, partner and 12 year old son stayed at the akti palace 9th Aug for a week where do i start... the welcome from reception was brilliant glasses of wine and juice in arrival and the check in was thorough and helpful everything explained a map to help us navigate the beautiful grounds and the safe key and Wi-Fi details which were all included, we were then collected by buggy and shown to our room and talked through how to work the air con and tv etc. The room was fab spacious and fairly modern yes the shower screen is small but hardly spoiled the holiday.
We arrived quite late and were told to come straight back as dinner was still being served, we dropped off the luggage and headed for something to eat the choice was plentiful and the staff were friendly and attentive, after a bite to eat we headed for bed.
We were up fairly early next morning and headed to the pool where at 730 had our pick of the lovely cushioned sun beds, although we did have a slight run in with a strange chap who wasn't happy with the beds we had chosen and asked us to move which i politely declined he then informed me he wanted his 9 family members to be near each other although there were plenty of other vacant beds near by to accommodate his 9??
We had a lovely day by the pool enjoying dinner at the pool bar lots of bbq meats, salad with feta and pita breads and also fresh pizzas.
Evening meal again plentiful and very varied at least 3 different meats and fish along with pastas and pizzas and also salads, soup was available every night with a variety of breads. Desserts were also plentiful from cheesecakes to cream cakes and lots of fresh fruit and self serve ice creams and sauces.
The grounds and rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff were out all day long cleaning and tidying and looking after guests, the pool bar served many drinks hot and cold along with cold bottled water and alcoholic drinks and cocktails.
We didn't see much if the evening entertainment as we preferred to be up early (630am) for a quiet hour or 2 before the pool got busy so we were usually in bed fairly early it's was very warm while we were there and also very windy which made the heat comfortable.
Breakfasts here are also very good a variety of yogurts and fresh fruit with cereals and dried fruits along with fresh pancakes available with toppings and also the usual pastries and cooked breakfast items the staff at the restaurant were straight over offering tea and coffee as you sat down.
The pool was cleaned regularly and they routinely removed towels if the beds were reserved and left for longer than hour.
The alcohol is branded and the cocktails generous measures, the air con was fantastic and kept the room very comfortable. Only one British tv news channel and a music channel which was fine for Us, the Wi-Fi dropped out occasionally but was strong in the rooms and reception, the free bus to kardemena is a must the people in the town are very warm and welcoming and plenty to do there i.e bars, restaurants, gift shops and supermarkets and the lovely harbour. To summarise the hotel was beautiful and friendly as were the staff and most of the guests, the food was superb, the room and view from our room fab and all in all we had a brilliant week away we laid out read books ate fantastically and enjoyed some quality family time, the hotel was quieter than the sister hotel next door but that suited us. Fabulous time in a fabulous place and a fabulous hotel, we can't wait to return next time for 2 weeks.

5* Service from all the staff.

We've just returned form a 2 week stay at the Akti Palace Hotel and on the whole enjoyed it.
We arrived very late and got a welcome drink at reception and us and our cases were transported to our room on a golf buggy. We booked a room with a shared pool, which was great. 8 people at maximum share the pool, which is literally a few steps outside the patio doors.Peace and quiet everyday. Heaven!

The room was fine, nothing fancy and certainly not close to the standards of 5* hotels we have stopped in before but it was clean and had everything we needed, including the inclusive mini bar that was refilled every day.
The bathroom however although clean, wasn't great. The shower is over the bath with a screen, but the shower head when placed up high sprays everywhere as it is positioned outside the shower screen area so the bathroom was like a lake after 2 of us had a shower.
The aircon in the room was excellent and the beds were twins which were pushed together to make a double bed but were different heights, but were comfortable enough. The bedding and towels were changed several times in the 2 weeks and the girl that cleaned our room was absolutely lovely.

The hotel has three a la carte restaurants, although we didn't go to any of them, but people said the food was fine. The buffet restaurant where we ate all the time was good. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble and it was kept clean and tidy. The food was very good and there was always a huge variety of food from pizza, chips, burgers, to Greek dishes, vegetables and a great salad bar, soup, bread and fruit section too.
There was very little all holiday that I didn't enjoy and thought there was just about enough variety.

The main bar I wasn't keen on, the service was SO slow with often only one person serving and there was no atmosphere at all. A bit of quiet background music would have helped.
The pool bar was better and the waiters there were superb after the first visit they always knew what you wanted to drink and were always quick to see if you wanted a refill. Music was usually on here and there was live music a couple of times a week. It wasn't the best, but at least it provided the place with some atmosphere. The chairs however, were ridiculously uncomfortable.
There is a theatre where dance shows took place, but we didn't go.

The main pool area during the day is crazily busy and noisy so we were very grateful for our own pool. There seemed to be enough sunbeds and it was nice to see people's stuff being removed if it had been left reserving sunbeds. The sunbeds around our pool were very wonky and old and the cushions a bit grubby.
We only went to the beach once but it was nice enough, plenty of sunbeds and the water sports centre. The beach is pebbly and there is a big drop into the sea, which could mean you might be out of your depth. I'd say be pretty careful if you're not a competent swimmer.
The big bonus for me was that you were able to collect beach towels every day, so no need to bring our own.

The hotel provides a really good free shuttle bus into Kardamena and it ran perfectly on time every time we used it. It is a 10 minute journey and it was nice to go out in town for a bit more of a lively night out and a taxi journey back if you miss the last bus back was 9 euros and was interesting to see that taxi drivers the world over, clearly are all the same and drive at the speed of light!

All in all, we had a great holiday, we went for the sun and got plenty of it. The rooms are not 5* but the service we received from every member of staff was better than we've had at some 5* very expensive hotels. Would we go back? Probably not, because we'd prefer a slightly livelier hotel which is walking distance to the main town.

Summer holiday with friends

Although the hotel is 5 star- the service is very slow. The day we arrived we had a problem with our AC and it took over a day to sort the issue out and this was after various conversations with hotel staff. Service with a smile is not their forte.
Not really a child friendly place- entertainment is poor, no music or daily activities for children. The kids club was more of a babysitting service than something that the children will enjoy and engage with.
Daily Food and drink was of a good standard but the pre- booked restaurants
Wasn't great. The food was prepared way beforehand which meant there wasn't any scope for change to recipes/ menu.
Luckily the company we went with made all the difference to this holiday.

Good average stay

Been there with my family (daughter 11 yrs old): the general inpression is positive, the resort -very large- is clean everywhere. The personnel is gentle, and there is a good animation staff. A special mention to the main restaurant, where food variety and quality are very good. The main negative aspect is the beach: there are approx 80 umbrellas, for a resort which can host up to 1200 people: you must be ready to wake up at 7am to go to the beach and "reserve" sunbeds and umbrellas, leaving towels or anything else. As said, the general impression is anyway positive.

I've stayed at many nice hotels such as Gleneagles and Celtic Manor so don't expect that but what it does it does very well and I give it 5 stars . A true reflection is that I would come and stay here again at the drop of a hat . The staff are brilliant yes there's the odd one you won't like but that's life the vast majority 99% are brilliant the food is delicious and plentiful you won't have known you could have as many food babies until you come here . The all inclusive is a must cocktails and drinks on tap ouzo , metaxa and even Scottish whiskies . Fresh bottled water fruit juice still and sparkling bottles of wine and beer cans are topped up in your fridge daily I'm teetotal so I enjoyed the fruit juice . Tea and coffee also in the rooms . There is car hire cycle hire and quad and bike hire 50 metres walk from the hotel the beach is 5 metres from the hotel , you can swim in the pool and be in the sea within 20 steps literally . So have a great time and also explore Kos there are numerous trips that can be booked especially from the hotel or even kardamena but make sure you try horse riding at Raphaels they pick you up and drop you off at the hotel and are based about 800 metres from the hotel find them on face book as well . The reviews are not lying it's brilliant for beginners to experts , a three island boat trip or a visit to Bodrum are also must do things of your an explorer or adventurer and you won't be disappointed ... Enjoy because you chose well :)
