What People are saying

Clean, comfortable

Layne Mon 15/07/2016 19:50

We stayed two nights while on business. This hotel is clean and adequately appointed (nothing fancy). My room was large enough, very clean, and the wi-fi speed was fine. The breakfast buffet was well-stocked and tasted good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I have no complaints.

Two day stay while visiting the Reichswald war cemetary.

Smallish hotel situated within easy walking distance of the central and older parts of the town.

The décor is older in styling but everything is spotlessly clean. The desk staff are very friendly and welcoming. My German is extremely limited but at least two of the ladies who looked after the front desk spoke very good English. I had booked a single room B&B for a two night stay. The room was again spotlessly clean, though the décor is a little dated. This did not detract from the room comfort. The shower room facilities where spotlessly clean, as was the bedding. Two clean towels and a shower floor mat are provided. Had soap is also provided in the shower room. A comfortable bed and duvet with two pillows made for good sleeping. There were adjustable two radiators, one in the main room and one in the shower room.

A continental breakfast is served from 06:30 - 10:00 every morning with a good selection of things to eat. Fresh tea or coffee is made to order and replenished if required. The dining room was again spotlessly clean and the breakfast staff very friendly and helpful.

This is not really a tourist area most local people would only speak German. The town is beautiful and very clean. The hotel staff told me of several good places to eat for my evening meals. Local people were very friendly and welcoming.

There was some building work being carried out on an adjacent plot of land next to the hotel. Some of this did disrupt the hotel car park. However the hotel staff were very helpful in either suggesting alternative areas to park or speaking with the builders and getting equipment moved. It was a small inconvenience though and should not be there for too long.

My single room was to one side of the hotel and was very quiet at night. Some rooms faced the front of the hotel however, this is a quiet town at night.

There is free wifi at the hotel and I was given a code on arrival to allow me to use this.

There is a small bar at the front desk though I did not see this being used. In the room, there was a small mini bar and fridge. I did not use these facilities though the prices were reasonable.

Two night short stay

I stayed for two nights while visiting my uncles war grave in the nearby Riechswald war cemetery.

The hotel is spotlessly clean. décor is a little older in style but does not detract. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms, (mine was a single no smoking) was very clean and tidy as was the bathroom.

Breakfast is continental with fresh tea or coffee made for you.

Depending on your demand and expectation of a German 3 star hotel

I got booked into this hotel, so I was fought by surprise.

The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable.
Free WiFi access was available at fairly good speed, however I can not recommend video streaming, but this is of course not always necessary.

If you are adverse to 1980's or 1990's decoration this is not your best place to stay. The furniture in the rooms is hazelnut brown and a odd brown-white combination is also the color scheme in the bathroom. The carpet on the floor may date aback even to the early 1970's, when the building was raised.

The breakfast is okay, and offered a choice of Aldi/Lidl type rolls, jam, butter, ham and cheese. Also a small choice of müsli and some vegetables are available. You can choose between tea or coffee and some juicy drink or water.

The staff is very friendly and kind. The reception is manned only between 06:00 and approx. 21:00.
In the backyard of the hotel you can park your car for free, which is a good thing.
A shopping centre and some restaurants are in 3-5 minutes walking distance, but downtown is approx. 2 km down the hill.

All in all a okay hotel, since it is clean and the staff is friendly, but the price asked for a single bed room of 65€ per night compared to the state of the furniture and the floors, I am not really satisfied.

Few weak points reduce the fun and the grading

We stayed there for two nights. Checkin was easy, the room was a little bit old fashioned, but clean and all functions were available. Matrasse was great, but double bed means two single beds pushed together (so to say two matrasses, two covers, and a gap). Bath room size is ok, shower is equipped with a singe valve, but works fine - sometimes there is temperature shift by other users?!
Parking lot is spacey. Breaky is in a nice room, the buffet is a little tiny, but a lot of things are available - juices, milk, coffe tea, fresh fruit salad, eggs (boiled, scrambled) bacon, sausages, bread, butter, jam, vrucht slag, cheese, ham, sausages, cereals...
More coffee is no problem and also the buffet itself is often filled up.
The service was very friendly and welcoming.
There is a lift to transmit person in upper floors.

Now, some weak points...
Unfortunately, it was the evenings of the soccer world champion matches and we want watching tv and having some drinks with friends. To ensure that, we asked a week before the receptionist and she told us, yes, there is a bar at the reception and also a tv in the lobby, so there will be drinks without doubt. After our arrival we noticed that the recptionist of this night stated that there was no bar service and if we would like to drink something she had to organize some bottled beer and similar.
The same at the second evening. Good luck, we talked in time about that and afteral got we need.
But, how could one receptionist tell there is a bar service and another one there isnt ? Is it a hotel service or the decision of the receptionist to offer a drink in the nite?
Another point to mention is that in TRIPADVISOR a pool and a gym is mentioned, but I didnt see any and there was also no hint in the room's Hotel Information about that.

Maybe, this is not a big point as a lot of guests seem to stay there only few days. But, it is not fair to the customer... and thus, one point is reduced.
