A very good small town hotel
changemakeron 21/10/2014 23:22A really good hotel with warm, friendly staff, spacious comfortable room and a lovely breakfast with a range of superb fresh breads at the centrepiece. Well located at the end of the high street. I was more than happy with the hotel. I echo MoeMan's warning about arriving late: I arrived very late to find a locked hotel with a note on the door saying what number to ring. I woke up a sleepy staff member at her home and it was only the fact I know some German that enabled me to understand her instructions over the phone explaining how to locate a key by inputting a code to wall mounted safe box! Next day we laughed about it.
Great Place to Stay
MoeManon 16/03/2010 18:54I stayed for 5 nights in this hotel and was very pleased overall. The hotel seems to be brand new and the rooms are very clean with modern decor. This is also one of the few hotels I've stayed at in Europe that have "American hotel" size rooms. They have two twin beds pushed together to form one large bed - only bad part about that is that you get two twin sized blankets instead of one big comforter.
The breakfast is not as good as some of the other hotels I've stayed at in Germany, but certainly adequate and nothing to complain about.
Considering the small town that the Akzent is located in, it does a fantastic job of providing one a comfortable place to call a temporary home.
P.S. - If you're going to arrive in the late evening or Sunday early evening, make sure to call ahead and verify someone will be here. I would have been out of luck had a colleague not gotten here an hour earlier and noticed the receptionist packing up for the night.
Fantastic value - 2 rooms for the price of one
wareinbelgiumon 31/05/2008 10:45We (husband, wife & adult daughter) stayed for one night at Akzent Hotel Stadt Schluechtern on the beginning of a short trip to Germany along the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Road. As our daughter was travelling with us I requested options and was offered a double room with a separate room in an apartment room. This actually turned out to be two separate rooms with an adjoining door between. Each room was very spacious and the second room also had microwave, sink etc. The rooms were very new and everything was in excellant condition. It was far more than I expected in a small town in Germany. Even better was the breakfast the next morning, as the hotel also runs a bakery and cafe, it had some of the best breads and pastries we have tasted. Yumm.
Schluechtern was a small town but much larger than I expected, we were able to walk down the street to a local restaurant (there was a few to choose from) with the best schnitzel I have had at a very cheap price. I only chose the hotel because of the proximity to Steinau and other accomodation in Hanua was unavailable. I wished we could have stayed longer in this excellant hotel.
The proprietor spoke good English and was most friendly and helpful.
