What People are saying
Spacious and Luxurious
Peter Son 11/07/2017 11:38Firstly, the apartment we had was large and very good for our family of four.
It had 2 bathrooms and air conditioning in bedrooms and living rooms. There was also a kitchen with excellent cooking facilities mw oven and dishwasher.
An extra bonus was the washing machine which came in very handy with all the hot weather and humidity.
Bedding and location were superb, walking distance to transportation boats and only minutes from Venices' main attractions.
Overall this was one of our best stays so far!
One thing to note as we were leaving was that we were asked to pay a city tax per person and cleaning fee both unexpected and adding an extra 58 Euro to our bill.
Luxury apartments on a quiet island
Savagemushroomson 11/06/2017 08:19Self catering luxury apartments on the pretty and quiet island of Giudecca only two stops from San Zaccaria (centre).
Spotlessly clean well appointed apartments that we totally enjoyed.
BIT EXPENSIVE at €927 for 3 nights but this is Venice. This includes a €40 cleaning fee.
Clean and spacious appartment, Ideal location
dieterderamon 17/05/2017 17:25Idealy located on Guideca, far away from the tourist streams on San Marco. Professional Service at check in and out. Very clean. Good restaurants, bars and grocery store Coop nearby. We had a 1 bedroom appartment with the sofa deployed to another bed for the kids. Small kitchen in between the bedroom and living room with tv . Do not expect to make dinner for 10 in the kitchen, tools are very basic.
Great Stay - shame about the view
Michael Hon 14/05/2017 12:35I will start by saying that we would have given Al Redentore 5 stars but for one thing that I explain below. It may not affect you.
We booked this apartment style accommodation for its location on Giudecca away from the hurly-burly of mainstream Venice, and it did not disappoint. It is a five minute walk from the Redentore vaporetto stop, and then about fifteen minutes to St Marco from there. Or in the other direction you can walk for five minutes to Palanca and go across to Zattere where you will be in the Accademia area. So the location is just perfect. And it is really easy to get to Giudecca from the airport. We used the Alilaguna boat service which runs hourly from the boat dock at Marco Polo airport. The dock is a good fifteen minutes walk from the baggage claim area using travelators on an elevated walkway from the first floor of the main terminal building - it is well sign posted.
Buy your return ticket at the transportation ticket desk (Alilaguna) €27 to Zitelle on Giudecca using the Red Line (in season) and then also get a vaporetto pass at the ACTV ticket which is right next to the Alilaguna desk. We were staying for nearly a week so we got a 7- day ticket. So you will get the Alilaguna Red line (hourly service) from Marco Polo to Zitelle and then an ACTV vaporetto No 2 to Redentore (one stop) which is every 12 mins during the day. The No 4.1 also makes this trip but it is worth waiting for the No 2 as these boats are easier to get on and off with heavy luggage than the 4.1 boats which are much lower in he water.
The other attraction of Al Redentore, besides the lovely accommodation, was the canal views. The building fronts the Rio del Ponte Lungo where it meets the Giudecca Canal - it is the second door as you turn the corner. From the windows of the apartments with water views you can see both. Except in our case we couldn't because there was building work on the facade to replace the crumbling plaster and the front was shrouded. The shrouding covered most of our windows and so the view too. We had not been warned about this before and as the room had been advertised as having a canal view we were somewhat miffed. After a mild protest, we were offered an agreeable discount, and then all was sweetness and light! But for this reason it only gets 4 stars, and not the 5 it would have got if we had been told in advance or had been offered the discount without asking. It's the principle.
The apartment was excellent and clean, the bed very comfortable, and with a tasteful decor, and well lit. Basic cooking facilities are provided including a good microwave oven and four burner electric hob, fridge and dishwasher. There is free coffee using pods for a coffee maker, and an electric kettle to boil water to make a proper cup of tea. Dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid are provided. We were very comfortable. The shower/bath was excellent with a good selection of potions and lotions, and there was plenty of storage space for clothing in a large walk in dressing room behind the bed. There is a good sized safe in the room which would take most things you would need to stow. Plenty of electric outlets dotted around though you will need an appropriate adapter. There is a lift to each floor. If I were to make any criticism, it would be that we could hear the people in the flat above us walking around on the hard floor, obviously with outdoor shoes on, when they came in at 10:30. We could also hear them talking occasionally.
The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and nice and always had useful advice on any subject we tried on them.
Access to the building is by a key for the front door, One evening when we came back we couldn't get the key to go in the lock as something had happened to the lock though it was impossible to see what. Luckily we had the number code for the electronic access which is provided in the welcoming email that you get. Remember to keep that with you or on your phone for emergencies like that.
We really enjoyed our stay at Al Redentore and will probably stay there again on our next visit - it is in a great location, a quiet location, its a nice apartment, with friendly staff. Hopefully the building work will be finished by then.
