Lovely B and B.
Angela Mon 20/08/2017 15:34Lovely B & B. With beautiful gardens. We had a large comfortable en suite room, with air con. Outside our door was a little table and chairs where we could sit and have a glass of wine and nibbles. Cycles were provided which was excellent. Breakfast was very good with a lovely fresh selection. Anna was very helpful and spoke brilliant English. A shared fridge was provided to store drinks etc.
There wasn't anything to dislike about this place. The only negative would be the location. Bit too far to walk into the city, so you needed to drive or cycle. A sat Nav is a must to find it. But everything else made it worth it.

Beautiful place to stay
Jo-Ann Aon 25/06/2016 18:59Fantastic place. The owner, Anna was lovely, so kind and helpful. She speaks very good English if your Italian is a bit rusty like ours.
We arrived late, about 8.30 pm, and she offered to take us into Lucca as we needed to eat. €70 per night, bed and breakfast. The breakfast is lovely and served in a lovely old conservatory.
The house and grounds are so peaceful.
The house is 40 minutes walk into the centre of Lucca, about 20 mins from the wall/ gate.
There are bikes that you can take into Lucca if you don't want to walk.
The room was lovely and airy, lovely shower room, plenty of wardrobe space.
Fantastic place to stay.
A Hidden Gem
RoseR197on 10/10/2014 22:36A charming B&B outside the city walls of Lucca. We loved this delightful place. We were sorry that we were staying only one night on our way to Bologna. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are also large for Europe. The proprietors were so welcoming and warm. We could not not get over the generous delicious breakfast with Italian arias playing while we ate. It was magical.
Italian hospitality
moosemumon 03/08/2014 22:32We stayed for four nights, using Al Tondone as base for excursions in the area. The owner, Anna, was very helpful and genuinly caring. For example, she went with us to the pharmacy to help with translating.
The property feels like living in someones home, and the veranda was perfect for breakfasts (served with homegrown tomatoes and fruit) as well as for afternoon reading/ playing games. Our 4-bed room was fine, but would on its own not stand out as extraordinary.
Lucca city is an easy 10 min bike ride away from the property, and bikes can borrowed (although they were not all in perfect condition). My husband found that the trip to Lucca, one lap in the city wall and back was a perfect morning run (8-9 km)! There was even a bakery on the way.
Our only complaint was the many mosquitoes, which probably hatch in the stream nearby..
