Great value
teacher9824on 25/08/2017 02:10Driving through Portland and decided to stop for the night. I looked at another hotel off Barber Blvd but the Aladdin was the nicest and cleanest one I found in this area. It's a great value because it's so close to downtown without having to pay the crazy prices at the downtown hotels. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean and quiet. I loved the front desk staff, they were super nice and helpful! The guy (manager?) had a lot of suggestions on places to see and eat. Overall I would definitely recommend the Aladdin Hotel and would stay there again!
Worst hotel ever
jraedupreeon 22/08/2017 11:08This is the first time I've regretted having to give even a single star. The "suite with separate sitting area" I booked was not available upon check-in. They had instead put our party in a skanky "kitchenette" room with a frighteningly ancient, rusty electric stove and the distinct odor of mold/mildew. The sitting area was two ancient hardwood chairs at the foot of the "beds" (more on them in a moment); there was no closet, just a big metal rolling wardrobe stand tucked in one corner. One wall had a large mismatched patch and a smaller gaping hole near the baseboard through which the cable was threaded. The two queen beds were lumpy where they weren't rock-hard and the pillows felt like they'd been stuffed with rotting Jello. The kitchen counter was buckling. I didn't venture into the bathroom. When I walked back down the three flights of stairs I'd climbed (no elevator in the building, so it's not Americans with Disabilities Act compliant) to complain that this was a substandard room - not a suite by any description - they said we were welcome to go elsewhere. It was said in a practiced manner, as if it had been said many times to many disgruntled patrons. It being the night after the big eclipse, they (and MANY others) were booked solid. Neither the night clerk, the "front desk manager" (who I was told actually owns this dump), or the other manager (who refused to speak with me) would agree to discount the $213 I had paid for this "suite." Fortunately, calmer heads in our party prevailed and found us an actual suite -- with a separate sitting room door AND sparkling granite countertops in the kitchenette AND a pillow menu AND a 24-hour indoor pool-plus-spa-tub -- for $179 eight miles away. The beleaguered Aladdin night clerk refunded my money and off we went to actual comfort and convenience. Did I mention the three roaches that skittered under the creaky refrigerator when we first turned the lights on at Aladdin? DO NOT INFLICT THIS NIGHTMARE ON YOURSELF. You're better off camping under the stars than getting anywhere near this ripoff motel.
Family at OHSU
Chela Con 08/08/2017 17:03I wouldn't have normally stayed at this hotel.I thought it looked creepy from the outside....but my mom was Transferred to OHSU and it was late we needed a place to stay and I wanted to be close to my mom.
So we ended up at the Aladdin inn the front desk person was very nice and checked us in quickly.
I prepared my self for a funky smell but the room was very clean beds were firm but comfy. They have a little breakfast bar just with fruit and oatmeal toast stuff like that.
Now that I have stayed here I would again I am very pleased with my stay.
Friendly and Clean
ORmanager12on 20/07/2017 01:48Great place to stay. Friendly front desk staff and nice clean rooms. I needed to check in early for a meeting the front desk stay was wonderful and let me check in an hour early. Very close to down town. Can't wait to visit Portland again. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Don't let the bugs bite
Backtobeachon 14/05/2017 23:44I stayed at Aladdin in Portland one night. The lamp next to the bed was broken and there was no electricity to the bedside lamp or the clock. You would think a hotel worker would notice the lamp and clock didn't work. The worst part was that I woke up with bug bites on my head and back. Five days later, still coping with the sores and itching. . The offerings at breakfast were unfortunate. High calorie doughy pastries, for the most part. They did have apples and bananas. Look under the bed upon arrival. A depressing place to stay.
