Me and my sister spent 2 nights in this hostel, reason for the trip was to attend a job interview and visit the surroundings. We needed a clean twin room with ensuite bathroom at reasonable price and we found it here! The room was very clean and the staff welcoming and polite. Breakfast was simple but abundant (and for £2 it was more than i expected). I would reccomend it!

Definitely worth recommending

A homely and welcoming vibe from the establishment. Location perfect as easy and quick access to the city centre validates such a claim. Quiet residential area within walking distance of nice eateries, shops and banks. All in all it was a nice experience staying at Alba Hostel as this was my very first experience staying in a hostel and i would definitely recommend it as most importantly the staff do make you feel welcome all through the stay. Thumbs up Alba Hostel

quiet and friendly

In a peaceful, and quiet area about 20-30 mins by public transport into the city center, or roughly an hours walk. It has a self service kitchen downstairs, lamps at every bunk, tv room, keypad entry into rooms so you don't need to worry about losing your room key. Reception was friendly and helpful, giving me a full tour of the place upon arrival. there's a weatherspoons just next door. The mattresses could do with some updating, and perhaps some more filled pillows, there was 6 bunks and 4 cupboards in my room so not everyone could lock away their bags, but considering the loudest thing in the building was my roommates chewing you'll definitely have a comfortable stay here.

Friendly retreat

After having my original holiday destination cancelled at the last minute and everywhere else in the area booked I decided to look for somewhere to stay in Glasgow. The Alba is a 20 minute train ride from either Glasgow Central or Glasgow Queen St. If you don't fancy the train there are plenty of buses passing the end of the road The staff were all extremely friendly as were the people who were staying at the hostel both on a short term and long term basis. This I thought worked very well The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The kitchen in the basement is big and the pictures although they are good can't really show you properly just how big it is. On one morning I counted 7 people at one time in the kitchen and there was still room to move about and prepare your food/ drink.

You get what you pay for, unfortunately

Quite a ways away from the West End/Downtown. Stains on the linen and lumpy beds. The bunk beds creak any time someone moves. There are no lockers or security, but there is a sink in the room which is nice. The door of our room didn't shut unless you pulled it, so if someone isn't paying attention, it could remain open. The staff was nice in person, but hostile over the phone and seemed unwilling to answer questions politely. I wouldn't stay in this hostel again.
