Cute and well-run guesthouse with excellent gastronomy
Sveenzon 29/05/2015 14:31I cannot confirm any negative experience at Della Stazione - On the contrary, we had a great and marvelous long weekend staying 3 nights at this very cute and well-run little guesthouse. Comments on TripAdvisor are quite individual and depend mostly on expectations vs. actual experiences of travelers. What ever you read about the owner, she runs her own proper business and is successful with it. Who of you entrepreneurs would not try making most out of it? Indeed she is a very friendly and charming lady, full of passion for her guests making everybody feel welcomed. We were definitely not regulars but still was she all over us making us comfortable. We even had a 3 month old baby with us and she literally loved to have a baby staying at her place. I was more irritated by the looks of other guests, probably the 'regulars', scanning my baby, my checked shorts and sneakers. I was not under-dressed but maybe we were strangers?
The food at the restaurant is excellent and the dining experience a medley. Also the breakfast is amazing sitting in the dining room with an open front overlooking the valley. Prices for Food and Beverage are moderate considering the quality. And the fresh Appenzeller-Beer from tap is a bargain!!
The rooms are nice and comfortable and price for value is good.
A side-note, if you book via booking.com or similar and choose the cheapest room, please be aware that you pay for what you get. I strongly recommend to call the place yourself and ask how the rooms are so your needs can clearly be identified and you finally satisfied.

if you order an expresso you get a whole dessert with it at a pretty hefty price.
The Hotel is charming and the food excellent, look at prices carefully to avoid surprises.
A very disappointing start to an otherwise wonderful weekend:-(
Jacksdpon 22/04/2010 15:11We have often eaten lunch at this restaurant and been impressed with the food and the wine list. We decided to stay one night on the way to Locarno so that we didn't have to worry about driving after dinner. We booked one type of room (in the main building) and received another in the annex. The room we had, although relatively pretty, was tiny with room only for the bed. We had to store our suitcase in the bathroom! We asked the owner if the situation could be rectified, and if we could have the room we had requested and were told, quite rudely, no as we were only staying one night. She did, however charge us 5 francs less:-) Dinner was okay but certainly no longer as good as it used to be. Our pasta dishes were unseasoned and overcooked. The meat dishes were quite good but far too expensive. We weren't over impressed with the service either ... having to serve/taste our own wine for example. All-in.all, a very disappointing experience and not one we will repeat. We went on to Locarno afterwards and the hotel, staff and service couldn't have been nicer!
