Convenient Situation
Margaret Don 01/07/2017 22:56Hotel was conveniently situated for the railway station and the bus to Milan Airport which left from the station, just a few minutes walk away. The hosts were charming, very helpful and welcoming and even lent me a charger for my phone when I found I had an incorrect plug with me! The room was very minimalistic, but clean and had everything needed, though a fridge would be a welcome addition. Not sure about the memory foam mattresses which tended to slip off the bed!
Close to Train Station - But Directions Would have Helped - Small and Expensive
BrisbaneKiwion 23/03/2017 23:57We were a couple in our 50's travelling by train with at least two suitcases on wheels. We chose this hotel based on previous reviewers stating it was close to the train station - which it was - PROVIDING you know beforehand which way to go.
We ended up pushing and pulling our bags up the roads as we really had no idea or directions as to how to get there directly from the train station.
The return leg the next day was fine as we were able to get our bearings - but it would have been helpful with something a little more specific from the hotel as to how to get to it when off the train.
As others have stated the room is small and the bathroom even smaller - just as well we did not have a cat to swing as we would not have been able to do it.
We passed on the breakfast - at SwF 20 a person we felt this was way over the top for a basic hotel focussed on providing accommodation - not specialising on meals.
We had a room on the ground level and so there was no lugging of our suitcases up stairs.
However in summary the room was very basic, no view and just somewhere to put our head for a few hours - did not even have a kettle and coffee/tea provisions.

Daniel was most helpful from helping us with our luggage to advising us on things to see in this beautiful city on the lake. Thoroughly recommended for it's location and guest services.
Good, friendly, top located, simple place to stay in Lugano
Jascha Lon 29/10/2016 11:08Came here for a weekend in the south of Switzerland. The Hotel is located very conveniently if you arrive by train (as you usually do in Switzerland). Literally a 2 minute walk from the station but no on site parking spaces. The old town of Lugano is also only a short walk down the hill.
Owners are really friendly, rooms are simple and clean. Wifi is available as is breakfast (which we didnt try).
Definitely a good place to stay for a short trip.
Charming, comfy and clean hotel
Joanie Eon 29/10/2016 07:57Our balcony room was quiet and small, overlooking the garden and views of town, with comfy beds with nice linens. Daniel was extremely helpful to us with directions and train schedules. Albergo Stella is near the trains, buses, charming downtown with restaurants and shops. We didn't have breakfast, but wished we had, for the convenience.
