Outstanding in so many ways!

I agree with the other reviews here that this is just a fantastic hotel. Amazing location and an authentic Swiss experience. I can't write all the things we loved about this hotel as this review would get too long! The owners and staff are so helpful. They will pick you up from the train station for free. The included breakfast is awesome and authentically Swiss. If you stay two nights or more, you receive a pass making of the bus lines and mountain lifts in the area free! The hotel also offers free use of their bicycles. They have quality Trek bikes that we enjoyed very much. We wish we had planed to stay longer! Highly recommend!

A Fabulous Hotel

We had stayed in Pontresina in the past at other hotels-what a mistake it was not to have used the Albris earlier! The welcome was warm and the owners were very helpful to us and greeted all the guests during dinner. Our room was a little on the small size but we had not booked a premium room as we are hikers and not in the room much. But the room was immaculately clean and the bed prepared each evening while we were at dinner.

The really BIG plus for the Albris is the food. Apparently the Kochendörfer family has had the bakery connected to the hotel for four generations and our Swiss friends in the area tell us it is thought to be the best in the Engiadine. So breakfast includes a wonderful selection of their baked goods (not just bread) along with an array of fruits, cereals, meats and other delicious food.

The dinners are incredible. They always have an appetizer and salad buffet and as other reviewers have mentioned their fish entrees will be some of the most delectable fish dishes you will ever eat. For anyone who doesn't care for fish there is also a meat entree available along with a vegetarian choice. Just to compare my wife and I ordered one of each one evening and they were superb as well! So if you visit Pontresina you should certainly give the Albris a look.

As we left Pontresina I asked my wife what she would say about the Hotel Albris. She said "Hotel Albris is pretty much perfect" and I think that is just about right.

The hotel is located a few steps from the bus stop. It's absolutely clean and our room was quite comfortable. We looked out over the river and enjoyed listening to the rushing water at night. Breakfast is wonderful; bread, cheese, fruit, yogurt, sliced meat and fresh squeezed orange juice. We ate dinner all three nights in the hotel restaurant and very much enjoyed ourselves all three nights. As an American it was interesting to watch a waiter serve four tables in four languages.

The real heart of the hotel is the staff. The Kochendorfers (I apologize for the inevitable misspelling) are present much of the time and seem to take real pride in their operation. All the staff is friendly and helpful, but one lady in the breakfast room did an outstanding job facilitating gluten free breakfast for us. She explained which were gluten free and made sure the gluten free bread was on our table. Many thanks.

I'd also note that Hotel Albris is a great option for gluten free travelers, we had no problem at all.

Overall Hotel Albris is as my wife said "Pretty much perfect."

I can not resist and not to write for the third time about this charming hotel

As I wrote in the past, from a very first moment you feel at home in this hotel. But every year they make this hotel better by changing or adding something. Hotel is maintained in excellent condition, clean and good-smelling.This may sound funny, but for those who use to travel, it is important point.
SPA is excellent and clean and it is a real pleasure to spend there an hour after 3-4 hours of ski.
Breakfast is fantastic with a fresh bred, they bake every night.
Dinner is great, as it always was. But now you can order a half portion of a main course.
Keep in mind, hotel's restaurant is one of the best fish restaurants in Switzerland, so order fish dishes every evening :-)

And I can not not to write again about Kochendörfer Family hospitality and their personal touch. Owners meet you, as old friends and every breakfast and dinner they find a couple of words for every guest. Good feeling!

Hotel Albris is a superb hotel in a great location. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The room we stayed in was comfortable and cosy with an amazing shower! Breakfast was the best we have had in a long time, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. Cannot fault this hotel, it very much deserves all its 5 star ratings.. book it up you won't be disappointed !
