Good location but service to be improved
Jenny_keon 12/06/2017 17:11Good location right in the center of the city! No free parking at the hotel, but you can park at CC De Mol which is only 8 minutes by foot. Breakfast was good, ample choice and fresh ingredients. We had a room on the 1st floor, for which you have to climb a very steep and uncomfortable staircase. The room was extremely small though, for 120€ per night I would expect a room where I can move comfortably along both sides of the bed. Room was very clean though, with separate bathroom and toilet.
The only thing that really bothered me was the attitude of some staff members. When I called the hotel prior to arrival, the guy on the phone was quite unfriendly and not service-minded. Upon arrival the lady at reception was rather distant. No warm welcome here. Except for the lady who served breakfast in the morning, she was very friendly. We were staying at the hotel with a bunch of friends for an event and they all had the same experience.
Stay in lier for business
Giovanni Lon 04/10/2016 09:04We arrived late and the hotel ia in the corner of the main square. A small problem is the parking in the adiacent square or streets. Not so easy to get one. But with some luck and patience it's possible. If you booked the room and have luggage, try to get a room on ground floor. You have to climb steep stars to get up to 1st floor. A lot of restaurants in the neighborhood but check first.breakfast is simple but pleanty. The night portier is really sympathic.
Price should be a bit better but still fair.
History without the Creak
Jugalchoudharyon 23/09/2016 14:13Been to Lier before but did not consider staying in Lier. But this time stayed there for a week and loved the town and the hotel. Right in the heart of the town- next to the City hall and the Zimmer Tower, cobblestone streets and rows of restaurants.
The location is convenient - train station (10 minutes walk), bus (2 minutes), parking (2 minutes). Breakfast is adequate by Continental standards, rooms are small but have all one needs.
I'll stay again
Good, but...
LaJarrieon 02/09/2016 20:39Clean, comfortable, good room, good bathroom, but left feeling that it did not quite tick all the boxes. Had ground floor room, so could not leave window open, and was a very hot night. Layout of old building does not lead to a friendly environment. Negotiating steep stairs to an upstairs room with a suitcase would have been a nightmare! Breakfast included, but again bits not good. Excellent fruit and yogurts, but coffee machine having an off-day as was undrinkable!
Very Hard to Find-See Attached Map!
teacherkhon 27/04/2016 22:31This hotel is very hard to find and it has no parking since it is right in the city center. In addition, many of the streets are one-way. We received a map of Lier which I have attached to this review showing where the hotel is located (look for the "X") and where the best parking lot can be found. Parking on the street can get you a fine! Note also the one-way streets on the map. Also, be aware that the hotel is located on the corner of Kapucijnen Street and Benijnhof Street. The directions from Best Western are worthless! On the plus side, this hotel had the best bed (a very comfortable king-sized bed) that we have had on our entire trip! The room was contemporary and spacious in spite of the age of the building. And it is just steps away from the main sights in Lier. Our room was Room #0.09 which was on ground level. However, each of the doors which enter from the courtyard also lead to a room above the ground floor room requiring the guests to carry their luggage up very steep stairs. That wouldn't have worked for us!
