Good location, basic rooms, humble service
edvascon 13/06/2017 23:09Whenever I am asked to pay on arrival I get the itch. This was one of those places, although they had made me a room upgrade for free, as the hotel wasn't full.
The room was nice, although basic. It was clean, had some space, and bathroom wasn't too small. But that was it, no minibar, no laundry service, front-desk closed after 11PM. Some items in the bathroom needed some better maintenance.
Breakfast was bad. Not much to choose from, small dishes so that you couln't take too much, just orange (not natural) juice, no service (front-desk staff was at breakfast at the same time, if needed). For the price they charge, forget breakfast here, go somewhere else.
Alerion Hotel
phil461on 20/05/2017 23:38I stayed in this hotel twice in March 2017 while visiting Metz to see my son at Georgia Tech's Lorraine campus. The hotel is very convenient to the main train station. I found the hotel well run and friendly. My room was small, but that is what I expected. The bathroom was fine - everything worked. My bed was comfortable. The morning breakfast had variety and was generous and tasty. The internet reached by wifi worked perfectly. I was able to book my room easily. I feel I got excellent value for money at this hotel.
Worst hotel in over 30 years of travelling.
Peter Kon 30/07/2016 16:35Pictures can be deceiving. The picture of a rather majestic looking Alerion hotel belies the drab and dreary accommodation we were presented with on our arrival. We'd booked two budget rooms and I wasn't expecting much but the rooms were dark and dingy. The bed seemed fairly new but looked like it to belonged in another hotel. The rest of the room needed some attention, especially the bathroom and toilet which weren't just basic but tired too. The toilet in one of the rooms was in what can only be described as a cupboard, with the space was so tight you couldn't easily shut the door. Maybe it was the heat (no air con) or the several hours driving but this was not a place to relax. We did ask if they had other rooms but were told they were full. In the end we checked out after less than an hour there, taking the full 115 euro hit for the rooms. What was really galling was that the hotel staff just didn't seem to care, almost taking pleasure in my dissatisfaction. Hotel quality and customer service has progressed so much in recent years it's disappointing that there are still hotels that don't value their clients.
Basic accommodation with good location
Statto1971on 23/06/2016 15:46My partner and I booked this hotel as it was near to the main rail station. As such the location is perfect but we were not impressed at all with the stay. On arrival there was no water (from taps) available at all and after 4 hours there was still no hot water. The shower cubicle was tiny and a real squeeze even though I'm only a 36" waist! The toilet was separate from the shower room and was also very small, as was the bed?! Think we paid 63 euros per night? Not a great deal but never got value for it.
Good location and service
Chris Lon 20/06/2016 17:13The Alerion is well located near the station and there is secure public parking across the road. The rooms are basic but clean and adequate. Service is good and the breakfast is more extensive than many similar hotels. We had a room on the inner courtyard side and the pigeons were very noisy. Good place to break your journey.
