Mariekestravelson 09/08/2017 13:43Very hospitable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is very good. Rooms are spacious. Very quiet and somewhat secluded...but if that's what you're looking for it is perfect!
Downside is the weather but the fireplace was qarm and welcomi ng.
Family Friendly Chambre d'Hôte, a stone's throw from the Eurotunnel
Gring80on 08/08/2017 21:01Alex Factory proved to be a great stop for the first night of our holiday, having taken an afternoon crossing to Calais on the Eurotunnel. It is incredibly well located, beng just a 20 minute drive from the Eurotunnel, yet in the heart of pretty, quiet countryside and close to the beautiful beaches and towns of the nearby coast. Alexis and his family were very welcoming - our 1 year old loved meeting their animals, and we were delighted to be able to enjoy dinner whilst he then slept in the next door room (handily, the monitor stretched that far!). Our seafood platter, freshly supplied by a local fishmonger, was delicious. Room was comfortable and well equipped - nice touches, including a fridge and Jaffa cakes to enjoy on our arrival. Alexis was very helpful in recommending local activities for the following morning, which proved to be ideal for us. Nearby Wimereux is worth a stop, and made for a lovely picnic spot. It's not cheap, but this is an address we will be remembering for the future, and recommending to others.

Oh, the tastes--the unmistakable hint of truffle in beef fillet and the glorious flavors of a Provencal artichoke dish prepared by masterful gourmet Jean. The ephemeral aroma of a rose in Chantal’s garden. The sights of castle stone in a rosy glow before sunset and a charming wrought-iron castle doorknob, a magnificent view of rows of Rhone Valley olive trees from the terrace. The feel of cool water, wind and hot summer sun at the chateau’s pool. The sublime sounds of morning bell chimes floating into our bedroom, and French melodies in the sitting room orchestrated by Chantal after I’d asked about the title of a song. To watch a bird feed its young in a nest tucked into a centuries-old stone wall as we ate our breakfast; to hear Jean’s story of the goat-tender playing Mozart before milking the goats as we ate their goat cheese and of the tall winemaker as we drank his wine; to receive Chantal’s help to achieve my dream of reaching the breathtaking lavender fields of Aurel… this was heaven.

Amd2307on 03/06/2017 08:59Stayed on the way back from a stay in southern France on route to the tunnel. Peaceful and pretty. Comfortable rooms. Perfect for our family. Lovely breakfast and good restaurants nearby. Always very welcoming. Happy to revisit.
