I couldn't decide where I wanted to stay in Zermatt. I am so glad I chose the Alex lodge. It is just far enough away from the sights and sounds of Zermatt to be perfect.

Pamela is a gracious host. Besides stocking the accomodation with coffee, tea, milk oj, sparkling water etc.. She is available to answer any questions you may have and genuinely wants you to make the most of your stay.

The location of the lodge is perfect for me. I am here for 4 nights. Pamela will have someone pick u up at the train station, just be sure to let her know. There r electric buses and taxis available if needed. As a previous reviewer commented, the bus schedule is not continuous, but about every half hour. Frankly, the walk to the shopping street is not far. An easy walk. It wasn't even that bad coming back up hill. It's rather enjoyable to walk.

Hard to leave when you can c the ever changing views of the Matterhorn from everywhere. I kinda got attached to the view from the couch.

Things to do: take the train up the mountain (gornergratt). Half price with rail pass. Check out the Matterhorn museum. Free with rail pass. Ride up Klein Matterhorn.

Shopping: Coop store for groceries. It's across from train station. Clothes and the like r very expensive here. I did however find an inexpensive jewelry store called Marco Polo. I recommend dropping in. Besides that, I picked up a few of the usual souvenirs.

Beautiful View of Matterhorn

This was a summer visit & we stayed on the top floor (4 BR's), with beautiful views of the Matterhorn. Pamela was extended a warm welcome to us and offered to help with anything we needed. The pictures on the site clearly represent the decor, which was beautiful. We were able to order freshly delivered bread every day, and the fridge was pre-stocked with OJ, milk, butter and jam upon our arrival. In hindsight we wished we had done our grocery shopping upon arriving in town --- before we were picked up by Alex Lodge. We had 2 young children, one who was in the stoller most of the time when we were out walking. While we tried to use a backpack carrier for the youngest, she wanted nothing to do with it - unfortunately. Definitely easier to explore without having 2 children in a stroller. Playgrounds were plentiful, one near Alex Lodge, and another in the town area. On the day we travelled up to Sunnegga, we found another one, along with the beautiful views of the mountains all around us. Lovely hosts, beautiful surroundings, a great holiday in Switzerland!

策馬特是我們在瑞士蜜月的最後一站，出發前幾個月已經預定了這間迷人的酒店，雖然網上評價不多，但我早已被官網上的圖片吸引著。
屋主Pamela熱情周到，她會因應不同的天氣而給我們最好的旅遊意見，這點很重要，因為山區天氣變化很大。出發前提及到希望能坐直昇機觀光，Pamela熱情地幫我們聯絡Air Zermatt，並安排好一切，我們完全不用擔心，你只需直接告訴她你希望能在策馬特看甚麼做甚麼便可以擁有一個完美假期。
Alex Lodge有超棒的景觀，可以很清楚看到馬特洪峰，而且屋內裝修擺設很時尚而且應有盡有，特別適合會煮食的家庭入住。我們住上3個晚上，離開時心中依依不捨，臨走前Pamela給我們一個熱情的擁抱，我們希望下次來策馬特也可以再住上這間美妙的Alex Lodge。

It was the last stop of our honeymoon trip in Switzerland, I booked this hotel a few months before our trip, we cannot find many comments from the internet though I was addicted from those pictures I saw in the official site.
Pamela is a friendly host and she gave us many usful travel advises. We just told her what our plans in Zermatt, and she would prepare everything and we have nothing to worry about.
We miss you Pamela. Hope to see you again and we definitely had a perfect stay in Zermatt.

Everything was as good as promised on the website, if not better. The penthouse apartment is spacious and luxuriously appointed, with a great kitchen/dining/living area. And with an unobstructed view of the Matterhorn. Add to that Pernille's (Pamela's) warm hospitality and helpful attitude in all respects, and Alex Lodge will not disappoint.

Only negative concerns the shuttle bus schedule, which is too infrequent. Coming back from one end of town (after having waited already) we were dropped off at the main station, only to have to wait for up to 25 minutes for the bus home. In our case a return journey to Alex Lodge from the Matterhorn cable car station took 45 minutes. The town of Zermatt should be able to do much better. You have the option of hiking up the steep hillside back to the Lodge, if you are up to it. Or to treat yourself to a relatively expensive taxi.

I stayed three days (it was too short, I wished I could stay here about two weeks!) at Alex lodge with my parents and looking back, it was the highlight of our two weeks Swiss/Germany trip, and one of the most lovely places I've been stayed so far.
I've listed Alex lodge to my favorite /wanna revisit accommodation with Swissotel living Bosporus and Sala Lodges in Cambodia.

There are places in the world where you don't necessarily need a great accommodation. And there are places where choosing the right hotel with elements such as good location and view, spacious room with beautiful interior and more makes a whole difference, by making you fall in love with the place and the city itself quickly which also heals and boosts your energy. For me, Zermatt belongs to the latter category and Alex lodge is just .. really your dream home.
There were no negative things about Alex lodge, I just want to recommend the place to all my friends not only who are planning to visit Zermatt, but I seriously wanna say, you have to visit Zermatt and Alex lodge before you die!
I was really proud of myself who made the right decision to stay at Alex lodge and also at the same time very thankful to Pamela, the owner of the lodge.

My most important criteria for choosing the hotel in Zermatt was the view from the hotel. In addition, I prefer quite hotel rather than loud. Therefore, I didn't want to stay in the city center area where most of the hotels are located since it looked to stuffy.
It doesn't mean that Alex lodge is far away from the city center, Zermatt is small so you can reach most of the place within 10~15 minutes by walk. As you could see in the picture, since it doesn't have any house directly in front of it, it gives you an amazing peaceful view to the Matterhorn.
Every room has it's own bathroom, the bedding is soo comfortable that I asked Pamela more information, the living room is so beautiful and spacious, you wish it were your home. The pictures doesn't capture the beauty of the house at all.
The weak point of the hotel is, since the view on Matterhorn is stunning, the apartment itself is so beautiful and comfortable, you don't want to go out.
Seriously, my mom just stayed two days only at the apartment claiming that even dish washing is fun in this house....She says when it's easy to go to Zermatt, she wants to visit Alex Lodge once every year.

For breakfast, butter and jam, orange juice, water and milk is placed in the house and every morning you receive a bread basket in the door. Coffee machine is filled at the beginning and for our family, it was enough for three days.
There is a lovely SPA area in the basement with a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
I read in the homepage that you could use the swimming pool in the Schlosshotel.

Pick up and landing service from/to train station is included. You just need to inform Pamela when you arrive and your train time when you leave.

Additionally, our family had the comfort able feeling that you are staying in a house of which owners are great people.
I also like their discipline about WiFi only in the living room to avoid radiation in bedroom. You can surf in the luxurious and comfortable living room and go fully resting in the bedroom.

I really fall in love with this place and would like to come back when I have my own family.

경치가 좋은, 마테호른이 보이는 숙소를 찾았고, 정말 너무나 탁월한 선택이었습니다.
여행의 목적에 따라 우선순위는 달라지겠지만,
예산이 되신다면, 혹은 조금 무리가 되신다면 차라리 다른 것을 포기하시더라도
체르마트에 가시면 이 곳에 묵으라고 말씀을 드리고 싶네요.
이 아름답고 아닉한 숙소에서 느끼는 좋은 감정들이,
마테호른 경치와 더불어 오랜 시간 기억될 수 있을 것입니다.
주인도 너무나 친절하고 좋은 사람입니다.

도착하는 시간과 떠나는 날 기차 시간을 주인에게 메일로 알려주면 됩니다.
아침은 우유,주스,물이 냉장고에 비치되어 있고, 아침마다 그 전날 요청한대로 빵을 문앞에 배달해줍니다. 더 드시고 싶은 것이 있으면 시내에서 전날 사시면 됩니다.
커피머신도 채워져 있습니다. 만약 다 드시면 리필은 직접 해야 하지만
저희는 남았습니다.

Wifi 가 거실에서 되고 침실에서 안되는데, 이유는 침실에서는 휴식을 취해야 한다는
운영자 가족의 철학 때문입니다. 저는 그로 인해 오히려 침실에서 쓸데없이 스마트 폰
안보고 푹 쉴 수 있어서 좋았습니다.
건물 지하에 자쿠지와 건식/습식 사우나가 있는 SPA 이용할 수 있습니다.
자매 호텔의 수영장도 무료로 이용할 수 있다고 나와 있습니다.
시내에는 10분이면 중심지 어디든 도달할 수 있습니다.

단점이라하면 숙소에서 바라보는 경치가 너무나 아름답고,
숙소 자체 인테리어 등이 훌륭하고 소파/침대가 편해서
숙소에 있는거 자체가 너무 힐링이 되다 보니까
밖에 나가야 할 필요를 못 느낀다는 것입니다.
정말 절대 후회하지 않을 말로 설명할 수 없는 아름다운 숙소입니다.
