Beautiful Exterior!
MartineNL26on 27/08/2017 12:52Fort William itself is not that exciting but the hotel exterior is beautiful. The lady at reception was happy and cheerful and made us feel welcome. The hotel is big with a lot of different floor levels so you can easily get lost. We ate in the restaurant next to the hotel; the food was good but there wasn't enough staff for a perfect service.
Only negative point is the lift, there is only one and very slow and small! Not very good on a busy morning with check outs and coaches departing.
Breakfast was really nice.
Tour of Scotland
Sonya Pon 18/08/2017 21:31Well positioned near the town centre and train station, this is an hotel, which has a lot of charm. Friendly and welcoming, the rooms and lounges were clean and appeared fairly recently renovated. Good sleep quality, nicely appointed bedrooms and bathrooms. Didn't have dinner in the restaurant but breakfast was fresh and tasty. The hotel was extremely busy and service didn't disappoint. We used the pool at the sister hotel which was Only a short walk away.
Adjust your expectations
Mouse8459on 14/08/2017 10:08It's 4 years since I visited, and not a lot has changed. It's still a bit tired and frayed around the edges, so don't expect a modern 5 star experience. That having been said, the room was perfectly clean and comfortable, the food, especially breakfast was generally good and plentiful and the staff were cheerful and helpful. Expect to be sharing with a few coach parties, so timing your evening meal time around them is recommended.
They even replaced the foul smelling lift carpet during our stay. Also, don't forget that you can use the pool/spa facilities at the Ben Nevis Hotel free of charge. They are rather nice (if that's your thing).
Did us very well
Petenjan99on 13/08/2017 10:29Spent 4 nights dinner B&B last week. Busy hotel with coach tours which was good. Breakfasts were very good. Dinners were generally good but a lot more effort and imagination could go into the veggie options. Staff were very friendly. ☺️☺️
Jacobite steam train
Helen Gon 12/08/2017 00:44We stayed at the Alexandra hotel for 3 nights in April .It was a birthday surprise for my husband as he wanted to go on the Jacobite train .It was a great wee break, the hotel was lovely ,very central for everything. The staff were polite friendly & helpful & the Bistro in the hotel serves great food. Not much in Fort William but cosy pubs with coal fires &I would certainly recommend the Jacobite journey to Mallaig but don't order the onboard lunch,it's terrible & a waste of money when Mallaig has lovelly eating places .
