What People are saying

Beautiful property

We stayed in gerekos apartments for 9 nights. Gianni is at your service. Anything you need from shop's to restaurants to places to go and things to do he is the guy. The rooms are spacious and clean, the pool is huge and lots of room to sit and relax, nice and quiet and the beach is 5 minute walk. Definitely recommend it.

Excellent vacation at gerekos apartments

We had An excellent stay at gerekos apartments. We where received very good at arrival although we arrived quiet late. Giannis was the perfect host, showed us where to go to eat and visit various places around the island (also non touristic places). The apartments are very deacent and feature a Well maintained garden and big pool. There is a small beach nearby and various good restaurants at walking distance. Overal a very good place to stay to discover the beautiful island of Corfu.

Stayed 20/05/17-23/05/2017

I have just come back from a three night stay with my mum and dad after visiting my sister who is currently working in Corfu. First of all, I can't thank Giannis and his family enough for their kindness. We had issues with our flight out meaning we were delayed by two days and because of this, decided to change our flight home to a day later and expecting to pay for an extra night however Giannis was sympathetic and due to the room still being free, offered us the extra night at no extra cost. On arrival both himself and his family were welcoming and even said they would be happy for my auntie and uncle who were staying at another hotel to use the pool with us. During our stay they kept out of our way however were always there if we needed them and polite in passing. They recommended a lovely fish restaurant called Gerekos in Gouvia which isn't too far away and owned by their cousin. The apartment we stayed in was clean and spacious and had a balcony that looked out to both the pool and harbour as I noticed did most. It had all you needed including air-con and WIFI. The pool was a good size, clean and surrounded by lots of sunbeds and chairs. The grounds were kept beautiful with lots of green and pretty flowers and plants. There is a nice each less than a five minute walk away. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay in regards to location and I am certain that if I were to return, I would choose to stay here again.

Great visit

We stayed as a family back in June and had a wonderful time. The apartment was basic but had everything you needed. There was a corner shop just down the road which we went to every morning to buy fresh bread. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed the large pool. The owners were very friendly and even called to order us pizza delivery one night (easier than eating at a restaurant with a baby). We hope to come back another time

Really peaceful

Sarahgalli10on 25/09/2016 15:41

We just returned from a wonderful 10 days here and really enjoyed ourselves. The location is very peaceful and we had apartment 9 on the ground floor with views of the lagoon and harbour and a really nice garden to the side of our private balcony. You could just hear the sound of the birds and the odd cat or dog around. There were lots of cats actually, which was fine by us as we love them. The pool was great, a good size and very clean and there was hardly anyone else there, just a few other couples coming and going. The sun loungers were really comfy and there is also a great hammock between two trees by the pool - perfect for chilling out.

The apartment is basic but quite spacious with a lounge with a sofa and spare bed as well as a spacious entrance hall where you could store your luggage, a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen. The kitchen had a cooker and oven with 2 hobs, a fridge and all you need to make basic dinners. Though most of the time here you would probably eat out as we did, with the odd night at home eating greek meze on a table in the garden with lots of snacks that we bought from the supermarket. The bed was comfortable enough and the apartments have aircon but we didn't really need it in September, it was hot but not too hot.

The host Angela and her family are very nice, they leave you in peace if you want, but are always around if you need anything and are very helpful. On the last day our transfer/flight wasn't until 8pm and they let us stay in our apartment for no extra charge until then even though checkout is normally midday.

It's literally a 5 minute or less stroll to the beach from here, down cute lanes and at the beach there are sunbeds for hire for £5 a pair with an umbrella and a great snack bar serving a good choice of reasonably priced dishes for lunch. It's a nice beach with really shallow swimming, and an amazing view across to Albania and across/down to Corfu town port and the whole landscape of Corfu to the north also.

Just about 10 minutes further on foot you'll reach the town of Kontokali which merges with Gouvia, I never understood which bit is which, but anyway, the first part of the town has about 8 restaurants and bars offering all kinds of food and then there is the Marina where there is a handful of new bars and restaurants. This is all within about 20 mins walking from the apartments. We hired a car for 5 days out of 10 and went mainly to the bays in the northeast of Corfu which are really pretty - Agni, Kalami and Agios Stefanos. We also went over to the west coast but didn't find that as pretty as the northeast.

Overall we would recommend staying here for the quiet and natural location, the easy reach of the airport, that it's not too commercial and overrun with tourist attractions, more of a simple place for people that really want to appreciate Corfu, however with a good town within walking distance. The buses are also regular and cheap from the main road and will take you in any direction if you didn't want to hire a car.

Have fun if you go. Thanks so much Angela and family for a lovely holiday.
