Perfect room for spending a few months working in Toulouse

I stayed in Toulouse to undertake a short research contact in the local aviation sector. I was on a tight budget but needed a small furnished room for myself on my own. This residence perfectly suited my needs. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional (and spoke very good English).

The neighbourhood is maybe not the best - however, there is easy access to two bus stops and the Zenith tram stop. There is also an Aldi store located just outside which is very convenient for shopping. Plus the rooms on the South end of the block have a decent view of the horse racing track which is quite beautiful.

I took the smallest studio option for the long stay accommodation.The room was well appointed and neatly organised. All the basics were there, and the bathroom was particularly nice and modern with good fittings and water pressure. There is a laundry on the ground floor with sturdy coin operated washing machines which work well, and large tumble driers.

The small negatives could be: If you are on holiday, you might want to stay a bit closer to the old city. The aeroplane noise is quite loud sometimes, but you quickly get used to it and the sound proofing is good. I had several issues with the internet provider to the residence. The staff at Alezan were very helpful as far as they could be - but the connection is managed by an external company. The internet seemed to be much better towards the end of my stay.

If you are staying to work for a few months, and have a modest budget, Alezan will have you covered at a very convenient location.

Needs to improve

The positive aspects are, modern, clean, stylish; negative ones are it is near a rough district that lies between it and the City, it is also on the flight path, though the planes do not seem to fly over all night.

It has a small kitchen, but no tea towel is provided or draining board, it does not have a kettle, but does have a coffee maker, but no where to plug it in. The plugs in the main room are half way up the wall. If you cook a meal as we did only room for one to eat at the table!

No wifi in rooms, this is 2013, even small country B&Bs in England offer this! It provides an ethernet cable, you cannot plug in an iPad!

The beds are very very uncomfortable

Reception closes on a night, the one night we stayed a drunken guest was being rude an offensive in reception, as we went through to our room, even budget hotels have a burly night porter on duty.

The first receptionist we got was brusque and passed us over to another to deal with as he could not work the computer.

All in all they let themselves down.

Noisy, poor heating, bad service. Airplanes coming to the Toulouse airport come just on top of this aparthotel, so, you can imagine the terrible noise.

In addition, the heating system is air-based, that means: by night you can choose between having no heating, or having a lot of noise.

Service is set to a minimum, with personeel at reception only a limited hours a day, so you can get in trouble if for some reason you forget the key

No WIFI in rooms, Internet is cable based, with poor quality connection

Althouht the price is reasonable, I will try some other altenatives next time I will be in Toulouse

Clean, simple modern touches

really like the simple rooms and the fact that is clean. staff went through the trouble to make our twin bed into a double one. even vaccum the dirt exposed after moving the bed. don't go for the breakfast if you can get out of the area quick as it's very basic making it overpriced. Only problem here is that location is really far out, not recommended unless you drive or enjoy the public transport that much
