Needs a Lot of Improvement

Lyn Don 15/07/2017 16:11

My family stayed in this hotel for 6 nights last June 2017. We decide to choose this property because we thought we can use the pool and beach to relax and the location is quite and private and the view was amazing.

But that's all about it, just the view looks amazing! When it comes to services and building design, it's just horrible! This whole property needs a serious make over on everything! From the building, surroundings, room service, food and amenities! I don't know how Expedia rated this hotel to 3.5 stars, it's really far from it, especially the services was very mediocre! They need a serious re-evaluation to rate this property. I reserved this hotel 3 months before our trip and I already had a bad feeling after they e-mal us a week before we checked-in that the swimming pool won't be available due to renovation , but still I took the chance!

The transfer from the airport to hotel was very late to pick us up. Imagine, we were the only one left in the arrival area before they pick us up.

The room we stayed was their suit room. It has a nice view over looking the Surigao Straight. It was spacious and has 2 king beds. The balcony is so dangerous when you have small kids. Not safe at all, kids can literally jump out directly. No privacy on the balcony when you want to relax. If guests next door wants to stay in the balcony too, you can directly see them, it's like a shared balcony. No wifi signal inside the room the whole week which they said it is available in the suit room but no avail at all in our whole week of stay. Wifi access is available only in the reception area and restaurant.

The shower on our bathroom has no pressure. The shower flow was very slow. The tub was so high and slippery. It's even a risk for falling. They provide shower mat but dirty and has molds. No rug towel provided unless requested. They only provide us 3 bath towel and 1 wash cloth upon we checked in. I called receptionist to provide us more towels and wash cloths but to my surprised they said , they will charge us 50php (1 dollar) each extra towel because they provide only by set! I argued, and she said "Oh, we will wave the Php50 for now. Next time you asked extra towel, we will charge it in your room".Where in the world can you find that type of service in a hotel industry? I asked the receptionist if I can talked to the manager, but no availability. No on duty manager ? Really??? I finally found the manager on the day we check out by chance, she was riding in the van that took us to the port. She said, that the towel policy is only for guest who are having a conference in the hotel not the regular guest. How come, when I asked the receptionist and housekeeping, it's the same answer that they are telling me, about the towel policy?

They didn't change our beddings even if we requested to change it coz it smelled damped and looks dirty already. We have to call again when we arrive back in our room to change it after all day long we were out. It was just stressful! Staff are not trained right! You have to haggle all the time!

They provide free breakfast but you can only choose 4 on their breakfast menu! You get bored if you are eating that breakfast for a week. No kids meals provided on their breakfast. I have to pay extra for kid's breakfast because she did not like any of the menu available in their free breakfast. I wish they would be more flexible and have more breakfast choices. We also ate dinner one time to their restaurant, unfortunately, majority of the food we like was not available! It's ridiculous!

The Hotel doesn't have elevator. No ramped for wheelchairs and strollers. Not disable friendly at all! The access stairs going to their restaurant is not covered , so I can't imagine how it feels like when it rains hard!

With our experience, I WON'T RECOMMEND it for my friends and family to stay. Way below the standard that we expected for 3.5 star hotel.

Perfect Family Getaway in the City

cbgabroninoon 27/05/2017 08:59

My whole family and extended fam from Cebu went to Surigao for a Surigao del Norte to Sur trip over the holy week and it was a delight to have stayed in Almont Beach Resort after a very long drive from Cagayan de Oro. The hotel staff was very accommodating. The rooms were surprisingly spacious and the ambiance was superb! Loved the views of the sea especially under the moonlit night! Mornings were properly catered to with great food and excellent service. Highly recommended for those traveling from Surigao to Leyte for an overnight stop, as it is nearest the Ferry Terminal and quick drive to the city proper but having that feeling of being far away from home with the relaxing resort feel and views.

Value for Money

Very quiet and peaceful location. 2 pools, kids and adult.
Small beach, not too clean.
Great View of Surigao Channel, and the city light in the background.
Good Breakfast at Cafe Maharlika, where hav they have a menu chart of over 60 choises, also as room service.
Mini bar with beer and soft drinks at favourable prices.
WiFi not the strongest signal but working ok.
All rooms, de luxe and suite's are of good standard/size

Nice Sunday buffet and pool

We live in surigao and just go there to swim and have a nice lunch. Nice Sunday buffet for 400 then swimming is free. The pool overlooks the ocean with a nice veiw. Staff are friendly. The water slide is fun and the kids love it.

great views.

ask for sea view, it's well worth it. but it's a little isolated out there, and the free wifi is rubbish because. the internet strength is always so poor. i went into the city, and got a multicab (destination Lipata) back, (public transport) just 20 peso's. i walked round the bay to Looc beach and down to Mabua beach. (pebbles!!) then took a tricycle into the city. the resort and the surrounding area really give some of the best sea views in the Philippines. ( i have been to a lot of places and this does stand out).
