Family visit to Brooklyn

kgb288on 22/07/2017 15:36

Friendly staff, excellent location. Close to subways and shops. Easy to walk to Brooklyn Bridge, however a lot of construction in the area.

Room was very comfortable and clean.

Rooftop bar was windy but great evening location.

Would return to this location!

Rude staff, pretend to be what it can't be

This hotel looks cosy and modern on websites but is quite different when you reach it. Front desk staff is rude, always talking to 2 different customers at same time (or on the phone). You can buy breakfast but there's no place eat it! Cleaning of the room is average to be fair. Roof top bar is nice but again staff is ugly, on thursday late afternoon the bar was so crowded and noisy that we could hear 4 floors below. Friday afternoon we got a beer at 4PM before leaving for the airport, external garden almost empty, we did sit on a sofa and the poshy girl acting as restaurant manager arrived one minute later saying sofas are just for customer ordering food (on sofas???). We moved to the bar just to see 2 girls sitting on a sofa in the garden and drinking 2 beers, no food. Maybe friends of the "manager". Not recommended.

Excellent hotel for leisure and business travel

This is an excellent hotel located in downtown Brooklyn, with fast access to the MTA subway trains, and walking distance to many local restaurants and shops. This a hotel that caters to both vacationers and business travelers.

I've been staying at this hotel since the beginning of 2017 primarily for business. Here're the high-lights of this hotel:

1. It's situated in downtown Brooklyn and is close to subways stations. 2. The rooms are not very large, but larger than some competing hotels nearby. 3. The decor is more modern than some of the more traditional hotels nearby. 4. The staff is super-friendly and knowledgeable. 5. There's a roof-top restaurant/bar (but you will need to dress up as they don't generally allow jeans and sneakers). 6. The hotel bar is conveniently located in the lobby of the hotel. There's also a pool table in the lobby. 7. Ask for a room upgrade, if you qualify. Their one-bedroom suites are very spacious. 8. They have rooms with balconies. 9. They have an onsite gym on the mezzanine level, next to an outdoor pool. 10. This hotel is operated by the same group as the adjacent Sheraton and the Indigo hotel.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for its value, location and friendly and helpful staff.

Great location, comfortable hotel in Brooklyn

I stayed two nights at the Aloft. When I arrived the lobby was very busy. Checkin was OK, however, the staff was multitasking on the phone and I felt I needed a more attention with a lot of interruptions. Once the lobby calmed down, the staff was very nice and helpful. I got a very nice spacious, quiet room on the 10th floor. The room was smartly done with a king size bed. Bathroom was new and clean. The AC was really good- quiet, good cool air, good controls. My TV did not work property. After I called the front desk, I had a new 50 inch TV within 15 minutes. I liked the outdoor deck on mezzanine level to relax and the lobby with the bar and pool table. Of course, the hot bar/restaurant is on the 24th floor. There is a lot of construction of new buildings in this area. Check out the DeKalb Market place for example. I ubered around Brooklyn alot, but I know subway service is not the best. As SPG Gold, I was offered free WIFI and the speed was pretty good. Overall, I really liked this place. I'd stay here again.

Meh...

Giving 3 stars instead of 2 because the folks at the front desk were very service oriented.
I got upgraded to a suite which was nice until I noticed the very dirty stained carpet. The wifi was unreliable as well. This place could be really nice but it felt run down and there is really no excuse for poor wifi any more.
I won't be coming back.
