Alona EWWW!!!!

We stayed for 4 nights, To begin, there was a large amount of noisy construction work ongoing for the duration of our stay. When we arrived the staff showed us to our room which was out the back. The room was filthy, mound on the walls, smelled of smoke and the bathroom was dated. We complained and we were told an upgrade would cost 900peso per night, there appeared to be only 10 other guests in the hotel. We argued but still had to pay 500peso per night for the upgrade. The breakfast for 3 of the 4 mornings was in the Carpark!!! The 4th morning it was a buffet, the worst I've ever seen, no choice of food. Avoid if possible.

Average hotel for the price they charge

My friends and I stayed in the cottages for one night when we went to Bohol for diving. I haven't see how the rooms in the main building were but the cottages were pretty dated and dirty. At one point, my friend dropped a screw while installing a new camera lens and it was difficult to get down on the floor to search for it.

The bathrooms were terrible too with a shabby water heater installation and minimal toiletries. No mosquito repellents in the room and there were a lot of mosquitos. My friend and I got bitten badly in first couple of hours there. Would be worthwhile to carry your own repellent.

The absence of wifi in the cottages was another irritant. It was limited to the lobby. I'm happy to use my data but I'll mark down any hotel that doesn't provide something as simple and inexpensive as this.

The buffet breakfast on the beach was sufficient. While the view was scenic, the flies were an irritant most of the time.

The location of the resort is the only advantage with a few dive shops a short walk away on the beach. We were very happy with our dive master and had some of the best dives thus far. No credit to Alona kew for that though.

Alona Kew is like the Dame of Resorts along Alona Beach. It may have been outpaced by new upscale resort but it has outlasted all others. The service from the front desk to the seaside restaurant to room service, its AMAZINGly great! My Superior Room may have seen the best of days, i found my rool awesome. What's Alona Kew's strength? The hotel personnel. Saludo to the front desk, to the room attendants, to the restaurant servers (even those in the ojt program) and to Manong Gary who became our preferred guide during out tours.

It will be my home perhaps in my future visits!

No toothbrush and toothpaste which should have been included for the price of the room wasn't a budget. It even cost more in other booking sites and the hotel itself, were prices could go up to Henan and Bellevue range. No wonder many in their reviews were screaming robbery. Book Asiatravel it's the cheapest for this hotel.
Cleanlinesss could need improvement too as dust can be seen in the glass and tile towel nook in the bathtub. They do change the towels and sheets. The crappy cable TV. WiFi on the lobby only. These are the negatives.
Overall, the size of the room, the comfortable beds, the location, the free buffet breakfast and the responsiveness of the housekeeping made up for the negatives. Take a room in the main building. Most of the bad reviews came from those who took the cottages.

Good location but needs improvement soon

Old and ordinary rooms. Cheap curtains over jalousie windows, very old 21 inches TV. No ref. Poor water supply, dirty CR. Location is good, in the middle of Alona beach, beach front is so crowded with day tour guest, not well maintained. We opted to use other resort's beach front. This hotel is soo expensive, 4,500 per night. No problem with price as long as it's worth the price. They charged us 1,000 for the lost key, it has a ridiculous wood chain that will float in the water so always be mindful of that. I will not recommend this hotel to my friends. Look for another cheaper options along the beach. The only thing I like about this Hotel is the location and the Breakfast!
