What People are saying

average...

No because :
> too many kids and too noisy
> food is industrial
> Not enough lift (8 floors for a single elevator)
> the spa is a joke : small 4 person spa for the all building. Swimming pool is quite small.
> no air conditioning in the bar and restaurant (it gets really uncomfortable in summer...)
> terrace is small and infested with wasps (why not have some traps ?)
> wifi is slow (30 ko/s in 2017 is simply not enough..)

May be because
> You can prepare your pic-nic as takeway during breakfast
> All you can drink, inc. alcohol ..!
> Location is good
> staff is nice and friendly
> rooms are ok (matching 3 stars expectations)
> beds are good

I would only recommend if you already have kids... !

Lake Annecy & The French Alps (2017)

CroyLeson 30/07/2017 20:35

Back at La Clusaz again for another year's holiday with Shearings Holidays. Stayed at the Hotel Alpen Roc. A great hotel - excellent food (and inclusive for packed lunches and evening meal drinks), comfortable rooms and an ideal base for our tour. There is also an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. The tour was in the very capable hands of coach driver / tour manager David Burgess who made it an enjoyable experience. The town of La Clusaz is a lovely place. I enjoyed my stay

Highly recommended.

Family holidays

Family holiday in the mountains. Great hotel for the kids especially with all the extras. Food is very good and the staff is great. Also great hotel for walking, road cycling and mountain biking. Our room was rather small but we were always outdoor so no problem. We will be back.

Very nice hotel - great for mountain bikers

We reserved rooms through Club Giraffe for a mountain biking holiday. The rooms were nice and clean though some of the guys in our group claim that towels were not replaced every day. Be aware that rooms do not have air condition so if the weather is hot then it's hot. The family running the hotel is very nice and breakfast is sufficient and tasty. We also tried the restaurant but were less impressed.
There is also an arrangement for washing your bicycle if needed, and nice and wide storage room which is well locked and guarded.
Very nice swimming pool on the back.
The WiFi is flaky and disconnects often.
I enjoyed the hotel, it was nice.

Expensive for what it is

Stayed here for two nights when travelling. The reception area, reatuarant and bar areas a fine. Check in was smooth and hotel staff accommodating. Our room was quite away from reception and involved two separate elevators.
The corridors and elevator areas are in need of renovating as are very tired and showing wear. Our room was traditionally styled and satisfactory but perhaps not as well appointed as we would have expected for the quite expensive rate we were paying (outside of ski season and holiday seasons). There was no air con in the room which was disappointing as it got quite warm despite it being only mild outside. The shower room was fine but the toilet is separate and very small. The bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was very good and with our drinks package we were able to help ourselves to basic alcohol and non alcoholic drinks all day. However when you are out and about you are not likely to take advantage of this!
There is a pool area which was nice to have but arguably could have done with a bit of refurbishment. The locker/changing area is awkward without anywhere really to change without getting weak again. The sauna and steam room were good as was the pool. The Jacuzzi was slightly cold.
Overall the hotel is adequate but in my view too expensive.
We stayed two doors up the road the following night for 1/3 of price and whilst we didn't have a pool, breakfast or drinks included it was way better value for money.
