Charges for tap water and extremely poor service

It is with regret that I write about a recent very poor experience at this hotel. I was eating lunch at the hotel with a group of 3 friends. The friends were also staying in the hotel - on my recommendation. After lunch I paid my individual bill and then left. When I went back to the hotel to meet my friends for dinner, they told me that they (who are non German speakers) had been charged 20 CHF for tap water at lunch. I was upset, and asked the server (who was the same server from lunch) why? She looked apologetic and explained that her manager had asked her to do it. I asked to speak to the manager, and she said he was gone (it was 8pm.) I asked her to call him and she said she could not. I left my phone number and asked him to call me back the following day and he never did. She later explained that he charged this charge for water because we were not drinking alcohol at lunch. Keep in mind that all 4 of us ordered full meals at lunch, and again at dinner.

This type of management is absolutely unacceptable. The charge is not in the menu, and it is not reasonable. Furthermore the manager refused to discuss it with me.

I would like to point out that I am not one to complain normally. If you look through my past tripadvisor reviews they are almost all extremely positive. But I feel like this type of customer service cannot go unmentioned.

I would also like to point out that I have told this story to numerous paragliding friends who return to Fiesch on a regular basis, and they have all expressed dismay over this story. There is nothing more I can do than to spread the information, and to assure the owner that I, along with my friends, will never frequent his establishment again.

Convenient location of the Hotel in a quiet village. Bus in front of the hotel 5 minutes to the gondola that takes you to a great ski area. Friendly but professional owners (family hotel). Nice staff. Good food. The hotel is a 3 star with 4 star services. Nice indoor pool. We stayed in a spacious room with a great balcony facing the valley. All the hotel is very, very clean.
We kept skiis and boots at the brother's hotel on the ski hill so we could walk around and go to the gondola and the bus with the hiking boots.
We really had a good time.

In fact we had originally booked at a different hotel in Fiesch, unfortunately the booking website showed a check in time until 10pm, but the last cable cart (only transport up the mountain), was at 6pm. As a result I had to try and make a very last minute booking on the train to Fiesch. I found myself speaking to one of the owners himself, who offered to collect us from the train station knowing that we were new travellers and we had no transport to the hotel. He did not just charge us extra for our booking, regardless of the fact we had booked literally 10 minutes prior. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, very traditional and swiss with a selection of cured meats & cheeses, along with many other varieties. There is a lovely view of the mountains from most of the rooms, although the rooms themselves are fairly basic they do have at least 5-6 decent english channels and are very homely & traditional. The dinner menu was delicious, we had an amazing steak and lamb dish! Very satisfying! Beautiful selection of gelati available for desert. And drinks were very reasonable! The hotel is only a 5 minute bus ride to the Cable Cart for Eggishorn - which gives an amazing view of Aletsch Glacier. This really is a must stay, I have to stress the reason the hotel is so pleasant is the homliness and the staff, it really is the perfect hotel for couples and families! Oh and the pool was phenomenal! A large heated pool with glass walls showing a beautiful view of the mountains, a lovely sauna and steam room too!

never ate such a bad Fondue, the bread was old, the soup was horrible. The rooms are old and the service in the restaurant knows not even the wines that they have. I'm disappointed from this Hotel. A Hotel in Wallis and The cheese-fondue is from the package.. no way
