What People are saying

A dream for sleeping in! :)

I ski every year and this hotel was the best for ski-in ski-out fanatics. You literally make a couple of steps out of the ski room and you can start putting the skis on. Bergbannen ski lift is a short blue run from the hotel. Skiing back you just take a pick betwen black or red that lead you straight to the hotle doors. Ski rental is inside thу hotel with reasonable prices and great expert service. The car park is ample, the views are fantastic and it is truly dead quiet at night.

Albeit only 5 minutes by car, the hotel is a bit of a hike from the town centre, but what a hike! Down the slope, path by a mountain stream, past a lovely church and staright onto high street.

Pros: 1) Location, you cannot get any closer to the slopes. 2) great views from what seems like any room, with balconies; 3) the food, the bar, the atmosphere, the decor
Cons: 1) it does not have an inside pool and the spa does not have any services (such as massage) and could have been bigger and has although the quality of it is quite high. 2) it cries out for a nice working fireplace! 3) erm...that's it

Do: 1) go for raclette at Bergland Hotel on high street, if you can walk afterwards I'd be surprised; 2) try the night skiing, the black at night is something else; 3) visit the Aqua Dome spa in Langenfeld - it will make up for the small spa at the hotel 100-fold!

First visit to intensive Solden

For our ski-holiday 2017 we looked for a hotel right on the ski slopes. How ever, arriving at the scène, the direct area arround the hotel was green. The temperature was to high for maintening the snow conditions. The first days we had the possibility to descend to the base lift. The upper-area of Solden had perfect snow conditions. A couple of days sun, 2 days snow and 1 day very misty.
About the hotel Alpengasthof Gruner.. Perfectly located at the slopes. Only 100 metres from the Philip Après Ski bar (closed 02/04/2017) and near the lift to descend to the center of Solden (lift working until 22:00hr) . The hotel is located in a quite area and only a few minutes away from the active center of Solden.
The Alpengasthof Gruner provides all you need from a ski-hotel. The inhouse shop for ski-rental and shopping is very handy (perfect assistance from Daniel).
The rooms are very nice. There is a new wing of the hotel with fresh new rooms and an older area with traditional rooms. Ask for a room with slope view, this is also the suny-side to sit on in the late afternoon after returning the ski-activity. Everybody in the hotel is very helpfull. The ski safe area is very good and provides excellent conditions for booth and ski preparations. Skibus for transport to the base-lift is right at the door from the hotel (every 30min in the morning). Hotelparking under the building (2 floors).
Breakfast is standard, not extentional but good. If you ask for something it is provided. Evening dinner is good and provides several possibilities. Flavours and colours are personal ofcourse. I liked it..
Bar area is comfortly and cosy. Very nice wellness area with sauna, steambath, restarea, ...

Family hotel right on the ski slops

For us the first time we stayed in Solden and this Hotel, great place to be we stayed 8 nights, this is a real family hotel owned an runs by the same family for many years , great spa, good food and always something sweets in the afternoon when coming back from skiing
Only one negative point is not having a pool for the kids.

Best Ski Hotel in Solden

Our second time at the Alpengasthof Gruner. This hotel certainly has the best ski-in ski-out and in-house ski service that we have found. We enjoy the after-ski cakes and strudel along with a nice drink on the bar terrace overlooking the ski area nursery slopes with views south to Obergurgl. The food is good, comfort food for skiers and a range of moderately priced beers and wine are available. Room is comfortable with a nice view to the Gaislachkogel mountain. The location above Solden is ideal - a quiet, yet convenient location. The hotel catered well to my wife's gluten-free diet. Thanks for a great ski holiday in Solden!

Very good, but could be even better

Our room and the common areas were decorated in a traditional style. Pleasant, but on the verge of feeling slightly dated. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.

On the first night, we arrived at the tail-end of the farmers' buffet and began to think we'd made a bad decision (food-wise, at least). What was left was a bit dried out and past its best. However, breakfast the following morning was good, and every other evening meal was of a high standard.

The wellness area was fairly small, but well-equipped and very pleasant.

A major plus is the in-house ski hire shop – no trudging off to the town to get your equipment! The attention given to getting you the correct fit was 5*, and the skis and boots were the best we have ever hired. The downside is that this comes at a price premium compared to online booking elsewhere of probably 20% (even after the guest discount of 15%).

In terms of location, the hotel is sited above the town and you can ski in and ski out, which is great. Connection to the town centre is via a pair of free lift cabins. (Unfortunately, while we were there one was not working, which slowed things up a bit.) If you like lively apres-ski bars, then there is an excellent one next to the top of the lift.
