One Night was Enough
ritaw811on 02/01/2017 10:10After staying one night at this guest house we decided to move to another. The person who greeted us did not have the usually friendliness that we experience from other places. The room was basic and not very clean; it had a stale smell about it and it felt as if the bathroom/toilet had not been cleaned after the previous occupants. We had a view of the backyard which looked unkept. Was quiet enough but would not stay there again.
Not worth the price
Dave Won 11/09/2016 16:26Just stayed overnight at this guest house and first impressions weren't great - tatty condition of building from outside with a 3 star rating board on the outside that looks like it's been on the building for 20yrs.
When you first walk in you have that old rustic smell of a place that hasn't been aired for months.
Rooms are fairly clean with clean sheets and bed was comfortable enough but found it noisy. Owners family and young grandchildren could be heard in the early hours - so couldn't get a good nights sleep.
Place is out dated with random furniture scattered about the rooms, small milk cartons next to complimentary coffee was months old!
We were offered breakfast but decided pub over the road was a better option.
This place ok if you want to pay £25-30 a night - but £120!!! I don't think so. It should have a 1 star rating.
Very nice guest house, warm welcome.
emma1074on 10/04/2016 18:59My boyfriend and I stayed overnight at this guesthouse ( arrived 9/4/16) as we were visiting Cambridge Sat-Sun. We were greeted by the owner who was friendly and showed us to our room. Along with our room key we were given a helpful map of the city, a taxi service number and the password for free wifi.
The room was bright and airy, spacious and clean with an en suite, also very clean and soft fluffy towels provided as well as some soap. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space if it was needed and a pretty dressing table with mirror. The bedding was clean ( big, comfy bed!) and also provided was a kettle with a generous amount of tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided. The owner had even given us some biscuits to enjoy with it.
The guest house was very peaceful, not much traffic noise or anything and it took us about a 10 minute walk ( at a leisurely stroll) into Cambridge centre. We cut across the park and came out by the punting tours so I think the walk is just right and scenic too.
The room price was very reasonable and we will definitely return there on our next Cambridge visit.
good value guest house
Victor Bon 31/08/2015 00:15This is not a luxurious guest house but it is certainly comfortable and very good value for the price. I had reserved a single room with shared bath but the owner very kindly gave me a larger room with a private bath. It is a fairly long (but picturesque) walk to the middle of town but there is frequent bus service that stops just steps away. I didn't eat breakfast as it was extra but there are plenty of places to eat down the street. The hotel has free wifi but it didn't work in my room so I went downstairs to use it.
More effort than style, but its livable.
Nameno1onemanon 04/07/2015 19:53If you can look past the awkward corners, 2×2 shower cubicles, the springs you feel under the mattress, and a rather long walk from town, its got clean sheets and they try and cram it with all the conveniences they think makes it work.
They probably don't have a clue about quality living or less is more, but they do try to make it clean and as good as cheap beds get.
