Functional hotel but beware on a main road

We had a triple room which was very spacious and functional. The hotel is located about 2km from the picturesque town and just across the road from the hotel is the lake (albeit with no direct views from hotel). There is a bus stop across the road with a regular service to Thun and the hotel gives you a discount card of local attractions and free travel.

Reasonable breakfast with cold buffet

Downsides - price, the noisy road at the front of the hotel and no air conditioning so had to sleep with the windows open and road noise

Just what me and my wife needed. We booked one of the room with a private bathroom and it was great. Breakfast was plenty and delicious, people at the desk(like Joanna) were kind and useful. The lake, town center, and the city of Spiez are close by with a bus (bus tickets for the stay are included in the booking price)
The only thing that I didn't like too much was the balcony outside. I think it needs to be painted or something.
Overall it was a great stay;)

Peaceful, convenient, enjoyable.....

Decision to stay at Alpha Thun was made primarily based on exorbitant prices at Interlaken. The decision proved more than correct because of following:

1. Thun is well connected by train in various directions. (Interlaken, Berne, Towards Brig, etc.)
2. The hotel is well connected by bus no. 1 from Railway station. 8 min ride. Bus stop 'stranbad' exactly in front of hotel.
3. Interlaken is 30 minutes from Thun by fast train.
4. Thun lake boat ride begins from Thun. Stop is near Railway station.
5. Breakfast is excellent.
6. We took a triple room which was big enough, neat and sleep quality was satisfactory.
7. Thun itself is a nice town.

The rooms are not AC but when we stayed, night temperature was around 15, so, no problem. They offer free icecream and tea and fruits in the reception. Coffee machine was out of order. For free Wi-Fi, you have to come to reception area.

I would surely go again in the future!

Great Hotel - clean, comfortable, and great staff

I stayed at Alpha Thun for 2 nights and it was great. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Moreover, the staff was incredible friendly and helpful. I had my passport stolen on a train and they printed all my documents to bring to the airport - free of charge or hesitation. They also provided wonderful recommendations for things to do in the area. I would definitely stay here again - the price is very reasonable!

Stayed here for a few nights and having experienced no air conditioning on a long, hot train journey, was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by complimentary water, mini muffins and ice creams on arrival. This set the scene for a very enjoyable stay.

The restaurant food was good with the breakfast buffet being of a high standard - the prosecco to enable you to make your own bucks fizz was a nice touch (and one i could get used to!!).

The evening meal "fitness platter" consisting of a wide offering from the salad buffet bar to accompany your choice of fish or meat, was a filling and super meal.

The complimentary bus ticket - covering a wide area including Interlaken, was a bonus.

Only advice would be that if you plan to arrive on a Sunday, then reception is not open after 1pm. It's not that obvious (although there are instructions admittedly), that you need to enter the access codes in the small keypad on the left of the door, and not on the two larger and more obvious keypads on the right. If wifi on arrival is important for you, then email in advance to obtain the code. Free wifi is only available in the reception lobby and restaurant.

Nice, friendly staff make the stay as pleasant as possible and Thun is a super place to visit.
