Pleasant stay in clean spacious hotel in quiet location
pikepeteon 15/08/2017 16:14We had booked the apartment for our family of four, it was on the top floor so had to carry our bags up one short flight of stairs but it wasn't a problem. There were two separate rooms, a kitchen area and single bathroom, it looked like it could sleep about 8 at a push but there would be a long queue for the bathroom!
The rooms were very clean if a little dated, the beds were big & comfortable although I never really got used to the massive pillows that seem popular in the region.
Reception was smooth and staff were pleasant even though we arrived about the same time as a tour group, we were told that we couldn't eat in the hotel because of the tour groups so we found a place near the abbey (Italian place...great pizza), it was only 800m walk so not a problem.
We got to breakfast quite early but after the tour groups so it was pretty quiet if a little picked over, it wasn't startling quality but perfectly adequate...nice cake!
All in all it was all good considering what we paid for B&B for 4.
Very nice hotel in a quiet place
MDP_Love_Travelingon 13/07/2017 00:53Very nice staff and service. Room was spacious with a nice terrace and mountain view, but bathroom was quite tiny. The bed was little too soft (old spring mattress) to my use requirements. The room definitely need some renovation. The breakfast was outstanding, with outside sitting options. Won't hesitate at all to stay there again.
Didn't really meet our expectations
HampshireBirdmanon 28/06/2017 15:33Funy experience from the off, on arrival an highlighted sheet was passed to us for filling in, and we were given a key. Little other information was forthcoming - it was as if we were interupting something he was doing.
The room was on the small side, but was clean and comfortable enough for one night.. Staff were a bit stand offish and not particularly helpful and although I got a password for their internet I could not get on line in our room. There was no offer of dinner in the hotel so we had to find a restaurant (thankfully we had done our research previously). The prime reason for staying here was to visit Linderhof which is a short drive away.
Would I stay here again - probably not (Not in the town and not far outside it).
Note: The hotel is on a cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Ettal, but not great views over the countryside.
Fantastic location but hotel frequented by tour groups
Cambridge44on 26/05/2017 12:15The hotel was in a great location, Ettal itself is beautiful and the hotel is on a side street which means it is very quiet. Rooms are very comfortable many with balconies and great views. However during our brief stay (2 days) several tour groups stayed (different each night) which were very noisy and they decimated the breakfast which was not replenished. If you are lucky to avoid the large groups I am sure it would earn 5 stars.
Great Stay
KatieLogan33on 26/10/2016 07:38Stayed here for one night when I came to the area to hike Zugspitze. They were very helpful in coordinating a late arrival and the room was very clean. Breakfast was great and of no extra charge.
