rahmadimdon 19/08/2017 04:40This hotel is located just a few step from lucerne main train station and also in the center of attraction. Chapel bridge is only a stone throw away. When you enter the hotel you can feel this is an ordinary hotel nothing special. There is no lobby, small reception but staffs are very friendly and thanks a lady with a beautiful smile that she showed us a pleasant and warm greeting. We booked a triple room and this room is quite spacious for three of us. The room is clean and tidy with comfortable beds. The bathroom is clean and big enough but no amenities provided. No aircond in the room but it is ok for us since the weather is suitable for us. Breakfast is nothing special, no option all food serve in western food. If I may suggest since this hotel has many visitors from Asian countries, it would be better if you can add asian food such as dimsum and rice and noodle food option.
Very Good Stay
winnsmon 05/08/2017 10:58This was a good stay at an affordable rate especially for Switzerland. I was mildly surprised at the cleanliness of the hotel. Staff was minimal but very helpful and kind. Rooms were clean but a little stuffy. All rooms were provided with a fan as there is no air conditioning. Breakfast is provided at the sister hotel, Monopol. Breakfast was excellent as it provided a nice selection of food to choose from. Location is perfect ... very close to the main train station and the center of Luzern.
Location, location, location!
Joan Non 04/08/2017 07:46Couldn't ask for a better location in Lucerne for travel and sightseeing. Only a couple of minutes' walk to Lucerne's central train station and boat station (you'll need a train or boat to get anywhere in the surrounding areas), and 5-10mins walk from central attractions like Chapel Bridge, Old Town etc. Located in a quietish street off the main road - I was on Level 4 so wasn't bothered by any night time noise.
Rooms are quite small but highly functional, clean and comfortable, and equipped with a fan (or you can ask for one), TV with some English channels etc. You can add a basic hot & cold buffet breakfast for CHF10/day at Hotel Monopole next door which I found convenient - good for travellers who want to stock up on food in an expensive city! It was fantastic being able to grab breakfast on my last morning then literally cross the street to hop on a train to Zurich.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and gave me discount vouchers for things like a walking tour.
For what it is (3 star hotel in an expensive country), this hotel does things well - it certainly catered well to all my needs. I would definitely stay here again. Probably best for solo travellers or couples who don't plan to spend all day in their hotel room, given the rooms are small.

sbabu2017on 17/07/2017 02:56Rooms are extremely small and the hotel is old and claustrophobic. What they don't tell on the website when booking, is the room size. Single rooms are just 6 x 2... the worst I have ever seen. Please stay away.
Average hotel, great location but noisy
M Mon 11/07/2017 15:56Stayed 2 weeks ago, great location and easy to get to from the train, hence our reason for staying. We stayed one night only and naturally it was very hot and humid. Stayed on the second floor, so you could hear the people below at the bar if you left your window open. We had to keep it open to breathe. The hotel does not have AC, par for most hotels in Europe. I was told they did not have a fan. I literally looked at the front desk man and said you will find a fan for us or we will literally be sticking to the sheets and will be miserable. He said he would look and thankfully they found one for us.
We arrived early morning and knew the room would not be ready, totally fine. We stored our luggage and came back a few minutes after check in time and it still wasn't ready! Not the end of the world but I was a bit annoyed. We sat in the small lobby for another half hour waiting for the room. The breakfast at the sister property was nice and fairly decent.
