New Year Stay
Michał Gon 07/12/2014 18:30I have visited this hotel during the new year 2013/14. The service was very bad and the staff in the was not able to speak basic English or French. When I arrived at the hotel at around 23:00 they weren't able to offer me anything to eat. The hotel want able to get me to the restaurant I wanted to get a ride to. Food in the hotel restaurant wasn't very good. The hotel's building is as fi it was from the 1970 as well as its accommodation. The Internet is slo and the only positive is that it is close to cablecar station. Not worth the price 👎
marvellously situated and a lot of charm
Isikon 19/08/2014 17:50My wife and I stayed for a ¨few days in this beautifully situated hotel, dating back ca. 100 years. We had a corner room in the last floor that looked more like a junior suite. Overlooking the Rhone Valley and the southern rim of the alps, with some of the famous 4000's in front of us. The decor has some charm of the past wich makes it warm and pleasant. Lounges and terrace are spacious and cosy. Food is superb, in particular the royal buffet served on the terrace on sunday lunch was something to remember. Service is excellent, supervised first hand by the owners. I happened to be on a wheel chair because of a recent accident, and everybody was genuinely helpful to us.
Amazing Food - Good Location
vanessashihtzuon 07/04/2014 10:41The food was amazing, top quality, probably the best we've had, breakfast was ok/average but the evening 4 course dinner was outstanding every night. An old fashioned hotel with beautiful ceiling lights and décor in public area's reminiscent of a genteel era. About half mile walk to ski cable cars but a free chauffeur service available for residents, very nice. All the housekeeping staff, dining staff and reception staff polite and friendly. There is an exceptionally talented pianist who plays lovely songs for several hours every evening. When we arrived the porter helped us with our luggage, as the hotel lift is small and bit "shaky" this was most welcome. There is no smoking in the hotel but is permitted on the hotel public balcony and in your room, we wouldn't dream of smoking in the room so smoked on our own balcony which large and kitted out with table, two chairs, lounge chair and ashtray. Our large suite was on two floors - ground floor had a hallway, storage cupboards, good size bathroom, main twin bedroom with large wardrobes and long mirrors. Upstairs was a double sofa bed, tv, fridge and balcony - upstairs designed like a mezzine. Hotel within 5 minutes walking distance of the fantastic shops in Crans Montanna, an ourdoor ice rink, a beautiful frozen lake, parklands, restaurants and clubs. It is not a resort where there are lager louts or trouble makers, its very safe and very smart. We booked our holiday through Inghams, not cheap but well worth paying a bit extra to stay in such a beautiful place populated mainly by civilised people! Enjoyed the swimming pool which has strong massage water jets along the side. Our only grip was that on our last day as our flight was a bit later and we had to check out of our room earlier that the Head Waiter was not his usual friendly self and seemed to want to get rid of us when we were sat on the terrace at lunch time. Yet it was deserted and we were the only customers there? Very strange attitude, particularly as he had been lovely to us all week. Despite this odd occurrence I would highly recommend this hotel for the spacious clean rooms/suites, beautiful alpen views, decent swimming pool, unbeatable delicate 4 course dinner. Not much to do for our 6 year old and we couldn't do any of the Inghams trips organised by our cheerful rep Ed, as they were too late in the evening for a child to go bowling etc, luckily I anticipated this and had bought along little Henry's ipad and dvd player. The tv in our room was mainly foreign channels and just had BBC News in English. The lack of things for kids to do in hotel, Inghams not taking kids into account and strange behaviour of head waiter on our last day has prevented me from giving this very good hotel an excellent.
Great stay
Rod Don 28/01/2014 10:13My family and I stayed for a week in January 2014 at A&S, booked as a part of a ski package through Inghams in the UK. We all really enjoyed our stay.
It was a real Swiss experience: a family run, boutique Alpine hotel. Beautiful views over the Alps from comfortable, un-fussy but spacious rooms. The hotel offered a warm lounge area and a very smart dining room.
The highlight for us was the fantastic food at dinner. Not one course disappointed during the whole week. Our party consisted of three generations of family and everyone was impressed rarely leaving anything on a plate (mind you mountain air and skiing does generate a healthy apetite!)
We were fortunate to meet the head chef (first name Rampesh - spelling unknown) who is a Thai but trained in Switzerland. His attention to detail is amazing with special recommendation for his desserts.
In general the service is very good in a pleasantly understated but thorough way. Typically Swiss. This is a subtle point because it could be interpreted as a bit indifferent particularly as the command of English isn't brilliant. However, push through this and we found we had many friendly conversations and were given useful advice.
A welcome as sunny as the view
SaraRvwon 23/01/2014 20:41We stayed here for a skiing holiday in Crans Montana and had a great week - we did have a good deal on the holiday through Inghams. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we enjoyed the sunny terrace with its fabulous mountain panorama, swimming pool and sauna, which was spacious and HOT!
The food, from the talented Thai chef, was outstanding - delicious and beautifully presented.
It's only a 3 minute walk to the Crans lift and you can usually ski back to the base of the lift at the end of the day.
