What People are saying

Very unhappy

Stayed overnight last Friday night. Called while on the road. This was the only room available anywhere within 100 miles. Got my grandkids in the room at around midnight. When my granddaughter pulled the covers back on the bed there was dried blood all over sheets. Knowing I'd have to get back in the car after 4 hours of driving to find another hotel more north, we slept on top of covers. I complained in morning and showed pictures to the same clerk who checked me in the night before. The manager never came out for an apology and offered half off the room. Will never stay there again and wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Quick stay

This lodge has potential. We checked in around 10:30pm and were on the road again by 8:00am. We had read the reviews on this lodge, and found is better than we were expecting. The room we had was OK, and breakfast was adequate for our needs.

I enjoyed my stay

This is the second time my family and I stayed here on our way to the U.P. I am not going to type here the place was perfect but all in all my kids love being on the first floor and walk out to the indoor pool. It's a throw back for me and my wife as these style hotels are mostly long gone. After we got off the road we got the rooms we wanted on the first floor, went in the pool, and the staff delivered the wood fired pizza right to the pool and we ate in our bathing suits. The staff was really fantastic. I stayed here for the overall experience and my kids ask to stay here. There is a DQ (or Carvel ... whatever) and Starbucks close by.

Quiet but scary

Evening front desk person seemed completely clueless when we checked in. We had made a request to be on the bottom floor after reading reviews that those rooms had been renovated he told us we were assigned to the 2nd floor and when he was asked if they were renovated rooms he had no idea. When we arrived at our rooms on the second floor they were down right scary. Stains on the carpet, very dated furniture/bedding, extremely lumpy beds, and drippy facets in the bathroom. We immediately went back downstairs and asked for a bottom floor room and were given one. We were much happier. The renovated rooms have laminate floors that appear to be cleaner and have newer furniture. The continental breakfast was gross just skip it and run to McDonalds. I understand that this hotel was recently purchased and is under new management and renovations take time and money but it just seems like excuses. Our entire group was moved from this hotel after 2 nights. Some people were not lucky enough to get renovated rooms and had several problems. One girl had a doors that didn't lock. Sketchy individuals seemed to hang out around the building a lot also. ON A GOOD NOTE the hotel is very quiet and the pool was very nice. You can tell in it's glory it was a really nice place. Hopefully with time and money they can restore it to its former glory.

Beware

We booked this two months in advance. We had stayed here several years ago and thought this would be a good place to stay. When we arrived about 5 pm, our room wasn't ready yet so we had to wait while they finished cleaning it. In the meantime, 6 other rooms were ready when guests came in. (While we were left waiting) When we got to the room the tv didn't work. Back to the desk again to wait in line again. They send someone with us to check the tv. He agrees that it doesn't work and goes to get another tv. 20 minutes later and this tv is connected and still doesn't work. Back to the desk again. This time they got real rude so we requested a refund and left. Room was very outdated and dirty. Arms on the leisure chair were worn and nasty. I do not recommend this place.
