Very good value, quirky hotel

The hotel is on one floor which is accessed via a hallway and up some stairs. It was quirky and we really liked the unusualness of it. If you like 5 star Hilton standard hotels this wouldn't be for you. It was a really good price and perfectly located in a very nice area with bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. It was also a pleasant stroll into Berlin centre. We found the ladies who worked there really friendly and helpful, they even lent me a load of travel adapters when I stupidly forgot mine. Also arranged taxis and asked if we were having a good time. My friend had a room roadside which was a bit noisy, but we weren't in the rooms long enough for it to be an issue. Great german pub down the road and fab greek restaurant opposite.

I spent there two nights and despite the fact that the place can be "romantic" in a certain way the two ladies who work there are not nice,they smile only when you are leaving. The bathroom was not cleaned after the first day and the breakfast is a room too small for all the guests (if you don't come first you cannot find a seat!) and the food is directly from lidl....

Quiet location near Kurfürstendamm

Stayed there for 4 days, the room was a good size. The furniture needs updating and the shower needed to be held in room 1 as the hook was not in the correct place I am used to. The breakfast had a good selection. The hotel was clean and well looked after.

Horrible customer service - avoid this place

I made an initial query about booking via e-mail. They got back to me promptly and gave me an offer. I showed my interest in this offer but they said they would like to test if my credit card would be authentic. Then I politely asked if they would like to charge me full by card or by bank transfer in advance instead of testing my card. I also ask their cancellation policy. They replied to me by e-mail, saying that the offer is no longer available for me, and I should book it via booking.com. I then phoned to the hotel and explained that I was just asking if I could pay in advance. Suddenly a woman, who spoke strong Russian-tinged English and German, started shouting at me, saying that they don't want to be instructed by guests how to pay. This woman even arrogantly said that I had to listen what she said till the end, and when I was about to say something, this women interrupted me. I have never had such a horrible customer service from any hotels I have stayed all over the world. I shall NEVER stay in this damn nasty place, but I am in fact so glad that I did not pay full in advance (I am sure they don't refund me in case of cancellation). Shame on Hotel Alte Galerie. There are so many nicer hotels in Berlin.

good deal on this hotel.
hotel has nice large rooms good breakfast and is well located.
negatives hotel not staffed after 6 pm and if you arrive with heavy luggage no lift and have to lift bags by yourself to the 1st floor poor tv no English channels and heating was not adequate poor pillows as well.good free wifi
