We fell head over heels in love with this hotel. Who wouldn't when you get to sleep in royal beds from the sixteen hundreds!? I weird mix of ancient and modern, though modern was more like seventies modern. Maybe not for everyone, smelled a little funky and accessibility seemed poor for people with moving disabilities. But staff was very sweet and breakfast good.
Parking in nearby parking house, you'll need coins.

Old and Very charming hotel

I stayed here during My summer trip to mosel valley

This has to be one of the oldest hotels in cochem.. Very charming building, and almost like living in someones house!

I had My daughter (6 years) with me
We found the hotel to be Very Nice! My daughter did not like all the pictures of the men that this hotel has on almost every wall! I think the pictures add some old charm! We both liked the knights armour next to the elevator!
The elevator was Very small, But we could Get all our luggage with us inside IT!

The coffe at the hotel tasted wonderfull!
The breakfast was a bit simple i think, But IT still was enough to choose from!

The hotel is located in centre of cochem, and you have everything right outside the entrance.. all the shops,bars, diners and the river is just outside!

The staff at the hotel had good english skills and they where polite and smiling!

Our room was clean and spacious (nr 12A)But IT did not have a small fridge.. i missed the fridge... as IT was Very hot outside!

The room had large Windows wich you could open, we had street view!

Rustic medieval atmosphere with long curtains, wooden furniture and pictures of royals.

Friendly and attentive service.

We came here as a family group of 10, reserved beforehand. It was not too loud, do comfortable to have a conversation. Everyone enjoyed their food and had no complaints. The portions was quiet big, served simply on big white plates. The cost was very reasonable with drinks about 52 euros. Main dishes were in the 13-21 euro range.

Would definitely recommend it, if you like traditional, simple, well made food in a comfortable atmosphere.

14th Century Charm With Modern Comfort

The Hotel Alte Thorschenke is a charming hotel in the heart of Cochem. We stayed in room 229 and it was lovely, complete with a medieval styled antique bed with one of the most comfortable mattresses we have ever slept on. Frau Söller at reception took care of everything from start to finish and ensured our stay was perfect. They have a wonderful restaurant as well in a part of the hotel that dates back to the 14th century. She reserved a cozy corner table for that evening. We can highly recommend having dinner in there during your stay. Breakfast was very good and not the typical European roll, coffee, and butter. It was a generous buffet offering a wide selection of meats, cheeses, rolls, yogurt, as well as scrambled eggs and bacon (something you don’t usually find at most German inns). It was delicious and plentiful. Parking is available in a lot just down the street for a nominal fee per day and well worth it. Cochem is a very foot friendly town. Once you arrive there is no need for a car. We can highly recommend staying at the Hotel Alte Thorschenke for it's location, comfort, wonderful food, and excellent service.

We had dinner with the three of us; me my mum and my partner. Menu was limited but the food was absolutely perfect!! Best meal in cochem what we had. And service was great , my mum can't walk far and has difficulties walking stairs but the toilets were downstairs. As soon as they saw us walking towards toilets they showed us the lift and held it open for us, it went downstairs to toilets what was ideal!! GreAt restaurant and will def comming back!
