What People are saying

Characterful, comfortable Hotel with excellent German cuisine

Davenareymbeon 16/11/2015 21:34

Stayed for 2 nights on a business trip and this was a lovely change from the normal, characterless business hotels I'm used to. The traditional looking building is lovely both inside and out with exposed beams in the rooms and a vaulted ceiling in the restaurant. Food was excellent: tasty and traditional German food, presented in a modern style, we particularly enjoyed sharing the flammkuchen between us as a starter. The place is family run and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful.

The only things to be aware of are 1) don't rely on the wi-fi, this worked but was very slow (although this was a problem across Eberbach as far as I could tell) and 2) the bathroom being built into the sloping roof meant showering was a challenge for tall people. I'm 195cm and I had to perform contortions to get washed. This would not be very awkward/potentially dangerous if you were not fit and flexible!

Fine example of German traditional hotel - great food and accommodation

I prefer an old family-run German Gasthaus to modern hotels that all look the same. Altes Badhaus did not disappoint from the personal welcome, the low-roofed bedroom with exposed beams but with modern facilities as well as the superb cuisine with great service. The town is on the Neckar river a few km from Heidelberg and definitely worth considering if you are in that area

cute, cozy, historical

i booked us to go to the wrong Rothenberg, so we ended up staying here, which was really nice. Very untouristic, not a lot going on, but a few historic sights, and good restaurants, so one night was a very welcome break from our german towns and city tour. Really enjoyed it, limited breakfast but it was off season and i think we were the only people staying there. A very pleasant accident

The spell of times gone by

We picked this hotel by chance for a stay of 4 nights and were delighted when we saw the wattle-and-daub building in the middle of the old part of Eberbach. Located at a beautiful small place surrounded by linden trees which is lively during the day and quiet at night, it is really seducing. We had a charming room under the roof which had everything necessary. The bathroom however is not made for tall people: My husband (6 ft 1'') could not take a shower standing upright and even for me (5 ft 8'') it posed quite a problem.
The staff is very friendly and the food a very nice mixture of typically local and Mediterranean cuisine, complemented by a diverse wine list.
The location of the hotel is perfect for discovering historic Eberbach and if you want to dine out, there are quite a few restaurants within a few minutes walking.

We recommend it for people who are not too tall and do not have difficulty climbing stairs, as there is - of course - no elevator.

An unexpected delight!

I picked a town on the train line and the cheapest hotel room available yet somehow uncovered an absolute delight! The town is picturesque, the hotel is quaint yet delightful and the people are welcoming and helpful.

The food in the hotel is modest but well prepared and the house beer will knock your socks off. Aroundnthencornernis a Greek restaurant where if you live in Australia, your drinks are on the house!!

Visit Erberbach, stay here and you will struggle to not relax.
