Outstanding experience all around

I travel a lot and always stay in "value" hotels. The Althea Rooms are simply great. Great Beds (very firm memory foam), great shower, air conditioning that really works, and a large room. Although no breakfast is included in the rate, we found coffee and croissants available each morning. The bathroom is a tad small but has everything you need. Renewed the towels every 3 days which I think is great. But even with all of these pluses, having Antonio was the best. He was incredibly friendly and helpful. He has ready all the info you could possibly need...map, sites,offer to make reservations, restaurant list with sites marked on the map. For us, helpful in working with gaining access to the ZTL area...And there was a computer with free use in the room. We knew it was good when he opening our room for the first time, the room was great, but his first words were, "First, let's get the air conditioning going." The area is great, out of the main tourist area, near Santo Spirito, feels like a bit more of the real Florence.

Good stay in Florence

The room is very clean; bed is comfortable. Antonio is very nice and helpful. He gave us a lot of good information including nice restaurants. The location is very good, 10 min walk to historical center.

Clean, Quiet, and Charming Budget Hotel

Due to accommodations falling through unexpectedly, a friend and I were fortunate enough to find space at Althea four days out from our trip in Florence. We were so pleasantly surprised to find that the place was even better than we had imagined. Well-marked, easy to find, clean, spacious, quiet, charming decor...incredibly kind and helpful staff, and easy check-in process. Each room has functioning AC and a computer, a map, clear instructions...it was extremely self-sufficient, almost like living in an apartment with the convenience of a concierge. Not to mention, the cleaning staff does an excellent job and really makes the place shine! It was spotless! Will definitely be returning next time I'm in Florence.

Ideal location, quiet and clean rooms and friendly owner

We went there in June 2015. We had previously reserved a spot just a few steps away from Althea at Garage Fosi to park our rental car. The streets are narrow but we had a rather large car and had no problems driving although some maneuvering was required at times.

Althea is ideally located in quiet street and all monuments and attractions are within walking distance, no real need to take a taxi or a bus.

They do not serve breakfast but nearby cafes and bakeries offer all you need to start the day with a full stomach.

A great place to stay when in Florence.

perfect budget choice

i always stay here and have reviewed it each time.
althea rooms is a clean, quiet, convenient budget option.
the address is across the arno in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from the pitti palace, santu spiritu, and the river, away from the tourist mobs. real italy !!
no breakfast here, but several cafes for and italian style coffee and pastry breakfast which brings real neighborhood-italy alive.
they have a REAL full service computer RIGHT IN EVERY ROOM !!
IT IS ONE FLIGHT UP BUT THEY WILL HELP YOU WITH ANY LUGGAGE.
the reception is open during business hours all day and available by phone other times which is great. they are so very very friendly and competent and will help you with anything, and answer all your questions and help with needs. a joy to deal with.
there are amenities in the room (hot water boiler for coffee/tea, refrigerator, tv, computer, a/c, the works).
this isnt a lux place or a restored palace, but it is comfy and clean and peaceful and dependable and just right for me !! and a real bargain in expensive florence.
